OTC Genisys scan tool -$75 (needs help)

I have an older OTC Genisys scan tool that is updated with their "4.0" software which is good on all makes including European through about 2011.

 

Issues-

Battery does not take a charge - gets power from OBD port

 

Most of the time the tool freezes while going through the menus. I don't know if it's a software issue or a issue with the actual tool.

 

The tool has a newer smart cable on it that isn't super kinked and definitely isn't showing the wire loom. It comes with a hard carry case, charger, and some software CD's. I bought the tool about 4 years ago or so when our shop got a new one. It was cheaper to get a whole new unit than buy the software updates at the time.
