Great build cant wait to see it done.thanks!! i havent had that for 4-5 years. i LOVED that truck. wish i still had it. thing was powerful and looked awesome and handled awesome!!! i really miss it. if i could find another white one for the right price, id be ALLLLLL over it!!! i had the mirrors and chevy emblem on the grille painted white, totally changed the look of the truck. but urs is already black, so it dont matter, lol. but u could do the emblem, if you havent already. white or black on those truck is the best.when does the motor go back in ?hopefully this year, lol. im hoping by the end of summer for that. i work 3 jobs and have the CR80 to finish and a CR250 to get running b4 i get back on the ninja. ICEMAN
FINALLY ive been able to get something else done with this thing. Its really been pissin me off that i havent had time to do anything on this.I ordered Stainless brake lines from Speigler. Black lines, Black Banjos, and Black Ends. They will look tight on the bike!!Got the calipers torn down. I have new caliper piston seals. Popped the pistons out this morning at work. Luckily the pistons are in excellent shape b/c those are expensive. like 50 bucks a piece. Watch your fingers if you ever do this, lol.Now i need to send out the rearsets and calipers and get them powdercoated to match the rest of the bike!here is where the bike is currently at... ICEMAN
Got the calipers, right rearset, brake lever, and some caliper parts sandblasted today. Also ordered new boots for the calipers. luckily i can still get them, which means they are prolly used on bikes throughout the 90's.a little bit more cleanup on the calipers b/c i had to tape off the cylinders and slide shaft areas, then clean up and blast the left rearset and off to the powdercoaters!! ICEMAN
i started on page 1 this morning and can't believe this covers 5 years! Looks like it will be worth the wait.WOW. lol. im sorry. im hoping to get the motor in it this summer or next spring. I def cant put the motor in it, in the basement. and the garage is not heated, so it wont happen over winter. When i get the calipers rebuilt and the master cylinders rebuilt, i can start assembling more stuff and test fit the plastic. Then i have to clean the exterior of the motor this summer. So there is a chance i can have it running this summer i hope. that would be nice. The reason i post so many pics is b/c you rarely see people posting a lot of pics on there projects, and i love to see lots of pics, so i figure other people do to. and its nice for me to have all the pics to look at when its all done!! And i want it done perfect so im taking my time.and i dont know what i was thinknig at the start when i wanted to go streetfighter. lol. First it was a drag bike, then a streetfighter. now ive settled and it will def be a sport tourer. Edited April 6, 2011 by ICEMAN
ICEMAN
Calipers and brackets are at Jeffs Powdercoating, same guy that did everything else. Getting them the same black as the frame and everything else. The front brake resi still had the 1989 brake fluid in it i think. didnt look good at all. Carb Cleaner didnt do a thing, so i got my dremel out and had to get most of it off. Cant put it in a sonic claener b/c of the window on the side of the resi.and i ordered Black on Black Speigler Clutch Lines to match the brake lines!!! and i also got in 4 speed bleeders for the calipers, rear caliper has 2 bleeders on it. dont know why.Master Cylinder wall needs polished too. Thatll hopefully get done tonight!!feels good to be really gettign at this again. brought home a few plastic containers worth of stuff our of the storage unit! ICEMAN
got my speigler stainless clutch lines, new brake pads and cluch and brake master cylinder rebuild kits.then got out the OLD, i do mean old, craftsman drill and started grindin off the rust on the exhaust system. well, one half of the exhaust system. This will be getting coated black. mirror black on the parts you can see when its on the bike, and flat black on the rest of it.my dad bought this drill brand new a LONG time ago. now its mine and still kickin. after a few straight hours of runnin it started to cut out so i stopped.just needed to get the rust and corrosion off, not trying to polish it to a shine.
