Geeto67
http://jalopnik.com/tuner-shop-busted-for-illegally-importing-an-r33-gt-r-1795298878 All JDM Motors, a Japanese tuner and import car parts store in North Charleston, SC, was accused of smuggling illegal cars into the United States after authorities discovered a 1996 Nissan R33 GT-R hidden in a shipping container. he R33 was described as a “used breakdown car” and worth only $810 on its shipping documents, according to the search warrant, writes The Post and Courier. Speaking with a federal import specialist, the paper determined that the car was actually worth around $51,000. After finding the key, authorities were able to start the car, no problem. Trouble Maker
You have to be at least half potato to try to pull one over on customs.

Geeto67
You have to be at least half potato to try to pull one over on customs. I think I read somewhere that customs only inspects approx 1 container per 1000 imported. That's a less than 1% chance of being inspected let alone caught. Those are pretty good odds. However the penalty for getting caught can be jail and forfeiture of asset. Starting to see how drugs and trafficked humans and other things get into this country? The problem the importer has is that even if they could prove this is a parts car never to return to the road, they have misstated the value of the car to the authorities.
