Forrest Gump 9
Hello all Last fall I picked up a 2000 4runner as a winter beater. Didn’t use it much. The battery died couple times over the winter, so today I decided to get a new battery. Swapped the battery in, the truck fired right up, but none of the lights in the front end work. No headlights, no signals, no fogs, nothing. We checked every fuse, and still nothing. The taillights are working fine. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to what may have caused this? Did I overlook something? Thank you in advance
Cordell
Check grounds, common ground points maybe?
Forrest Gump 9
Check grounds, common ground points maybe? Yeah, that’s what I thought too. But I literally removed the battery and put another one in. I’ll removed the battery tomorrow and check again. Thanks
Forrest Gump 9
Do you think a relay can cause something like this?
Cordell
By “none of the lights up front” I assume you mean headlights, running lights, everything. Only things they have in common is maybe the switch and the grounds. Sorry not very familiar with your vehicle.
cdk 4219
There’s probably a ground by the battery that you possibly knocked off, or damaged when changing it. It probably all shares a ground up front like Cordell pointed out.
POS VETT
How rusty is the chassis?
iwashmycar
There are harnesses and junk near the battery that might have gotten knocked loose or corroded and broke. If it is like the Tacomas and FJs there is a heatsink looking resistor somewhere near behind the headlight near battery. The resistor is for the DRLs but the headlight system basically runs through that harness and such. Might check on those connections at least. Forrest Gump 9
How rusty is the chassis? Texas truck, minimal rust.
