Wiring....please help!

So I'm changing the face of my '89 pickup from the Cheyenne (W/T) grille/lights to the Silverado grille with the quad headlights. I went from this....

All it takes is a little wire splicing for the headlights, which seems simple enough since there's only three colors (2x black for ground, 1x green for high beams, 1x brown for low beams). The Cheyenne sealed beams only had one ground wire since the high/low is in the same lamp, whereas the quad lights have two. No big deal.

Here's the thing, in case I switch back to the Cheyenne setup at some point, I didn't want to cut off those connectors. I figured I could just crimp on some male spades to the quad light wiring and simply plug it into the existing Cheyenne headlight sockets. Right? Well, that didn't work. The headlights won't come on.

So, what did I fuck up? Pics for reference.....

Maybe the male crimp connectors aren't sitting in the socket properly? I don't know jack shit about wiring, but this seemed just as easy as installing an aftermarket stereo and I've done that a dozen times without issue

Your right, should be very simple. I would start by using a voltage tester to establish 100% what the wires do and also to make sure you haven't blow a fuse or have a bad connection.

Then make it work one piece of the puzzle at a time until everything works.
