What's bananas is he was running at 285 MPH at the 1/8th mile.

 

Being trackside when these cars make a pass is a 100% assault on the senses, that's the only way I can describe it. When I have to kneel to shoot low angle shots the noise and force of them going by makes me literally wince.

I can't even imagine. When we went to the NHRA Norwalk race a few years, it was mind blowing to sit at the seats at the end of the track to watch them blow by.

When I went to Spring Nationals one year I decided I wanted to hear a pass without one of my ear plugs in. The force and sound literally shook the particles out of my ear canal and gave me vertigo for a few weeks.
