Bought back my T4 Solstice

The guy I sold the car to never liked it and only put ~200 miles on it in 4 years. I made him an offer to buy the car and spares back and he said yes. Brought the car (and 3 pallets of spares) home today along with extra body panels. Excited to have it back! Going to make it something that can be driven on the street, used for AutoX, Track Days, or whatever. It is a z0k package car from 2006 and only 16 were made that year. Doubt it will be worth a ton of money someday, but it only has 5500 miles on it and only 2 recorded owners.

Need to make some modifications to be easier to get in and out of, but can't wait to get to drive it again!

My '8 Solstice GXP was not great ergonomically; it was cramped, window sills were too high, and uncomfortable seat position. It also needed more gear in its manual transmission (5-speed in the world of 6-speed sports cars). It had a GM Stage 2 turbo upgrade that allows for a higher boost level.

Other aspects are great. The Corvette-like chassis and suspension constructions are very nice and those are the main points to me. The clamshell hood is heavy and it probably should have been made from a lighter material.

I made mine to attract attention with minimal mods, yet I wanted it to have increased engine performance and suspension characteristics. I miss it sometimes and while looking for a salt car, I now include it in my search.

I'm sure we're all looking at $5-$10k fun cars all the time :) and I see a few chewy Solstices up in that range.

It's just tough to not go either Miata or even a C5 Corvette (if you stretch the budget a bit) at that point.

Yea. The pricing for my recent purchases (92 Miata and the Solstice) make them no-brainers. They will not be worth less than I paid and are insured for a ton more. That and they are super fun to bang around in with little worry. (A total win/win/win)

I've been shopping C5s and really need my wife to want a new truck. That would get her out of the house garage and make room for a lift to stack 2 more cars in there. Once I ditch the Solstice parts (and the left over Civic stuff), I may be able to fit a C5 as well. May need to have a friend bring his over to see how that would work. :)

Got any decent $9k C5's that aren't convertibles?
