Okay, this is almost a necessity for motorcyclists. I think I'll be picking one of these up in the future. This would've come in handy a few times in Hocking Hills and southern Ohio where nobody has cell service.

Add to that you can use the GPS tracking so on long trips your family can see on a map where you're at if you want.

Service is $99/yr for unlimited check-in, help, and emergency, or $149/yr for unlimited check-in, help, emergency, and tracking.

And there's a $50 rebate right now:

very interesting......lots of spots down in south eastern ohio where you cant get cell serve, but the roads are great. Could have used it when i made it down to the dragon last year as well. I couldnt call the misses and she was not please. LOL!!! Got into some serious trouble that day. :)

I installed a similar program on my Pre few weeks back. It's nice 'cause I can turn it off when I like, but gives the wife piece of mind when I take my road trips down to L.A. You can choose the time interval it reports from every minute to every hour. Sucks if you don't have a signal, but at least it will show your course of travel and last reported location

If you adventure ride, it's hard to make the case for NOT owning one. If you're mostly on travelled roads or whatnot, I can see the cost being a prohibitive factor.

I often ride where I'm many miles FROM the road. If I fall and really hurt myself, it might be a life or death device.

I haven't done a lot of solo exploring but the wife is getting me one this year (I think) so that will change how I ride (for the better, hopefully).
