jporter12
FWIW color rite has some terrible matching paintOut of curiosity, what paint do you use? I want to do the interceptor, and I'm having trouble finding paint info for this old bike. I may be pm'ing you about having you do some work for me. attackpainter
I use Glasurit. Its all from Europe made by BASF. This is hands down the best product money can buy. It is extremely expensive but produces results like nothing else.
attackpainter
And Kawi kid. That is a cleared finish. That look is achived by adding a flatening agent and changing the clear reduction numbers

kawi kid
But do you really understand what he's saying? im thinking he is saying it is clearcoated but the thickness of the clear coat is reduced to give it that textured or flat finish. but just my guess
MattKatz
no..They add what they call a "Flattening agent" to the clear, and based upon how much is added will decrease the gloss amount of the clear.Standard Gloss of clear is 100%....Adding the agent flattens it out....Not physically, but as in light reflection. It has nothing to do with texture at all...its still smooth, but as you flatten it it reflects light differently and less giving it the Flat look with the clear.Help? kawi kid
sorta.......... what makes it feel rough then? when you run your hand across the paint it feels rough like primer.
MattKatz
Its not rough "per se"Its just not completely smooth like glass.I have felt all of these finishes, and none feel textured...they just feel flat...I dont know how else to describe it.
