Not sure if anyone is interested, but my buddy and I were going to bob this 1982 440 ltd, but now he wants a shadow so we're moving this one down the line as well. I will probably post this seperately but figured if any of you guys were interested you could get first dibs.

I did find something fun out about the bike this evening, my buddy called me after I made the deal with you and said the carbs alone on this bike go for $800 new about 300-400 used. So I don't think you can really lose on this one.

Holy shit!! Glad the carbs have recently been checked out and cleaned in that case

I gravitate towards the "F" models. Always preferred the sporty model.

But a 919 is the grandchild of those anyway.

And I do still miss a kick starter. Grrrr. But not so much anymore.

Got it home and on the lift. Wouldn't start when I got there. Wouldn't start when I got home, took it off the trailer and tried the kick start. She fired up but not for long. Sooooo, getting the motor running and cleaned up is the first project. Then she's going cafe racer style for sure.

When the Honda 550 was designed, the designers took a long hard look at one of the greatest 500cc bikes of all time. The Norton Atlas. You can see elements of the classic Norton Atlas in everything about the Honda 550. I've ridden both, and there is indeed much similarity between them. In particular, the Norton Atlas was an extremely good handling bike.

Dump the points ignition, and get a Dyna S DS1-2.

Very noticeable performance improvement, when combined with new hotter coils.

Thanks for the links Tom. Much appreciated. I plan on picking your brain when I start really getting in to this thing ;)
