SWing'R
I've been wanting to get personalized plates for our car but the BMV website doesn't really say how much they cost.

SWing'R
Have them on the bike...........cost is ALOT Looking for the cost for a cage. Website said "there is an additional cost" per year for personalized plates but that was it.
jporter12
I think the additional cost is the same, car or bike. Casper was saying it was over $100 for the bike, that's why they dropped them. With that, I'd say probably about $120 or so a year.
jporter12
Looks like fiddy bux a year, $25 for initial reserve, which is a bit different.http://bmv.ohio.gov/special_plates.stm Effective October 1, 2009. Personalized and Initial Reserve license plates purchased or renewed will be subject to an increase of $15 each, making the fee for Personalized license plates $50 and $25 for Initial Reserve license plates. SWing'R
Never mind, I found the prices, apparently I was on the wrong section of the site.Looks like an additional $50/year on top of the normal registration cost.Plus looks like its a little over $42 to get it the first time, to purchase the plate.http://www.ohiobmv.com/sp_personalized.stm
jporter12
Initial reserve is a different type of plate, not as I thought, to reserve the plate the first time. Duh on me!

jagr
I contemplated it' date=' but then almost shot myself when I considered I was voluntarily going to pay extra tax to the gov't. [/quote']You could go the "initials" route. No yearly fee for that. Limited to 3 alphanumerics though. DRX ?

InyaAzz
Personalized car plates went up this year...it was $50 extra for the privilege this time around. I ditched em both for the bike and the bimmer. I could afford it..but it was the principle of the fee increase that I couldn't stomach.
