Combat in Iraq is officially over

The White House says US president Barack Obama will not be declaring "mission accomplished" when he delivers a speech about Iraq tomorrow (Australian time).

The president's Oval Office address is timed to coincide with the official end of US combat operations in Iraq after more than seven years.

But the US is leaving about 50,000 troops in Iraq to advise and train Iraqi forces.

Well, at least Obama gave Bush props for the success of the Surge (the one he claimed would be a disaster). And, he was magnanimous in apologizing for his stance.

Oh wait, he didn't do that? Well, anyway....50,000 people will be staying in country but there's no more fighting. Man that Barry has pull with the people.
