hue jass
It could be the dimensions of that second one. That Alpine for 150 is good.
Steve Butters
yea i like the alpine...but i am really wanting to run the kenwood because it has usb port for my ipod so i dont have to run a charger off my cig lighter**edit..i guess the alpine does tooi know i shouldnt bitch over an extra $20...i just dont understand why the kenwood wont work...but i guess i didnt consider dimensions..i just assumed single din was single dinafter buying the alpine, buying the cord, wiring harness, paying tax, shipping etc...im looking at $200 or a hair over...more than i want to spend...but i guess if its my only option i might just have toi think i can control ipod through the stereo though which is a big plus...i can just stick my ipod under the dash or somewhere that i dont have to look at it anymore (it never leaves my truck anyways) Edited September 8, 2010 by Steve Butters

Some units with so many features and watts need deeper chassis and even extension faceplates dont work. And it's alarm time.

YSR_Racer_99
Crutchfield. Got a cheapo Kenwood for the Avalanche when the stocker gave up the ghost. Better than I had hoped. Remote control, aux input, removable face. Less than $100 if I remember correctly, with installation kit.

max power
I put this in the workvan.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dual-60-Watt-Mechless-AM-FM-Receiver-with-AUX-USB-Ports/14658878Its 60 watts, has no CD player and has a 3.5mm input plus a SD card input. I have my old phone memory card in there. Works great and sounds good for a $40 radio. Speakers are ford "premium" sourced from the junkyard. I like Alpine's ergonomics better. What I meant by alarm is you should get one. Even if you take your faceplate inside, they'll think it's in there. They'll also have visions of amps and subs, crossovers and heavy wiring. What I'm saying is that just seeing a head without a faceplate and no alarm is going to invite a break-in.I've made models of stock radio faceplates. The systems they hid were other worldly.
