Disclaimer
If the conservatives want to censor Huckleberry Finn, this is only the next logical step.I don't even see the need for Jim as a character in Huck Finn, he's only 3/5ths of an actual person. Strictly Street
What a set up, if you don't read the part about slaves then you are racist, if you do read the part about slaves that proves it!Of course that fact that it has been amended doesn't seem to count because it was written so long ago it doesn't mean anything anymore.I'd kinda like to see the govt get down to the peoples business instead of this showboating and grandstanding that seems all to common. It's pretty sad when this passes for real news. Cheech
So.. Congress reads the Constitution aloud.. and this is bad? It's bad when you arguably have a year or less to legislate before your schedule is completely co-opted by the reelection campaign. I'd much rather spend this time doing something at least somewhat productive.
Cheech
I'd rather they read the Constitution and then have an essay format test on the subject material. Then they can do whatever it is they do.wouldn't that be the ultimate governance litmus test...
RFM
I saw the figure that it costs over $1 million a day (paying the salaries, staff, offices) while they read that on the floor. Become an expert in this in your own time, like Michelle Bachmann has. Work for us, or go away. Anything else is a waste of time and money. In this case, an oportunistic bit of worthless grandstanding.
