Back Protector Advice

I've done a few track days using the suits back protector. Now I am looking to buy a CE protector.

What should I look for in features?

How long and wide should it be?

I found this one on closeout, is it worth the money?

Any advice and experiences are appreciated.

What suit do you have as a few come with a CE protector in them. My Hein Gericke has a full CE certified protector in it. I also really hope you are still in the novice group as a back protector is needed for the other groups.

That being said I would use one of the following.

Im actually about to upgrade mine as well. I want something with better tail bone protection. Thanks for the links, I gotta get with TJ I know he has some nice ones too.

I know ridersdiscount has these too, I just knew I could find them easy on the STG site. I also know Todd from Motoseries sells the Spidi ones.

Yes I am in the novice group. I have a Cortech Latigo 1 peice, definitely not a CE back pad.

I see the ones you sent are much wider than the one I am considering. Is that something you recommend? Also they are all articulated. I imagine that provides more comfort and flexibility. Why else to you recommend them? Is the AXO no good?

I picked up this one http://www.procycledepot.com/THOR_MOTOCROSS_IMPACT_RIG_SE_CHEST_PROTECTORS-8-10316-87429.html as I goes on like a shirt and the armor doesn't slide around.

I also wear a set up body armor shorts that have pads to help absorb impact to the pelvis bones and tail bone.

I wear then under my track suit and street gear. My track gear has armor in it but I found that it shifts and moves away from the areas that need protection.

If I had the money, I might pop for one of those Dianese air bag suits.

Myself and Grapes have that AXO back protector. I figured for $50 bucks I couldnt beat it and it was better than nothing. It's CE with a hardshell. I feel confident it would do its job if needed. I say go for it and it will be a good back up and can always upgrade later.

I am running the Knox Aegis Race right now and am blown away with fit and feel. Many guys like the Knox Contour also. I run a Knox chest protector as well...

The reason for the Knox for me is that I get the comfort and the coverage on the tail bone I desire. Great stuff and STG is the best pricing...

I just bought one too, and wore it for the first time a couple weeks ago since my suit doesn't have anything built in. I figured it was something to get me by until I can afford a new suit with an integrated back protector.

Obviouslly he was just jealous because Grattan was Dubguy and I's first alone time. If you are getting a new on Dub, get at me tomorrow. I need to try on that helmet of your pops too. Is it Snell and DOT approved so I can use it with helmet checks like Moto, etc?

And Blue, don't be getting all jealous because I didn't stay with you and Jbot, God only knows what happened with you two and his dog when we left...

Dub, get me tomorrow.
