Instead of passing blame, why not focus on what is necessary to balance the budget?

We all know what has happened in the past, why not focus on what it will take to resolve the damn problem???

Send letters to your representatives and inform THEM of what is necessary, and if those representatives don't take the appropriate action to resolve the issue(as directed by YOU, aka - their constituents), then it is YOUR responsibility to vote their asses out.

I do exactly that!

I've never been a fan of that "move on" mentality.

That's something someone with a lot of blame uses to deflect the issues and save themselves.

"Don't worry about it being my fault I rear-ended your bike while I was texting and driving, let's worry about your physical therapy.

Don't focus on suing me or revoking my license, just focus on getting better."

People who have no idea what they're doing in their position of employment blame others for the problems instead of getting to work to fix it. :D

because thats not good politics. politicians arent concerned with the problem, they are concerned with how to spin it to make them look good and the other party look bad.

i break everything, then call you out for not having a plan to fix my mess. you have no ideas, and no one should vote for you.

THATS good politics ;)

this is one of those moments that the written word loses the meaning of the statement......

We all know that there are multiple factors that contribute to our economic situation(in regards to our national economy).

My point was not to "forget how we got here", but to accept it, remember it, and not repeat the "whose fault" game. If we could "punish" our gov't for making bad decisions, then this would be a beneficial course of discussion.

The main idea I was trying to convey was, we as the constituents, need to go forth and inform the people in power that THEY need to do their jobs or else we take the action of voting them out.

Oh yeah, Republicans broke everything. Buwahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can all agree the housing market crash caused this recession, correct?

Who's fault was that? Oh sure, you're going to blame the greedy Republican bankers. But who made it legal for the banks to prey on people with "alternative financing" options? Bush? Nope. Reagan? Nope. Bush Sr? Nope. Then who I ask? Who?

Truth is, the blame is about equal on both sides of the isle. Only the blind can't see this.

yeah pretty sure i didnt name a party, but thanks for trying to spin it ;)

you are absolutely correct that both sides are to blame. and both sides try to spin it to their advantage.

both parties suck. people who think that voting in all republicans will fix anything are just as clueless as people who think that electing obama was going to fix everything. just not gonna happen.

the difference between the two parties is the velocity that their knees hit the ground for their owners. thats about it...

i was just using that as an example. sorry if i was not more clear about that.

my overall point was that partisan blame is good politics, but us vs them does not solve anything.

you should run for office. ;)

True but neither does compromise. GOP wants freedom, preservation of God given rights and capitalism where each man has as good a shot at making it big as the next guy.

Dems want a socialist society where all its subjects live as equals on the tight leash of government rule.

Compromise leads to a failure of both ideologies.

The idea that either party can pad a bill with pork in order to buy another law makers vote in order to pass legislation that nobody would vote for with out the pork is sheer stupidity and should not be tolerated by the citizenry any longer. Its this ability that has us in the debt crisis that we're in. To label the few lawmakers who are responsible enough to stand up and make the needed cuts as the "bad guys" is even more ludicrous. If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at law makers who have spent lifetimes tacking pork onto bills for their state like Democratic Senator Byrd of WV.

I couldn't agree more.

I think he was pointing out that the differences are so extreme that they cut to the core of the issue. One party is about social justice and big government as the equalizer. The other is about personal responsibility and smaller government as a means of stimulating economic growth and general prosperity. Is there a middle ground, or are these things so opposite as to mean a compromise is diluting either path so much as to render it ineffective?

The whole "working together for the good of everybody" is a loser mentality that just doesn't work in the real world. It's like the "everybody wins" mentality they try to encourage in school these days. Sorry, but it's just not the case. Some ways and some people are better than others. Some ideas are better.

It's like when you get a group of people together to design something. There will be 10 different ideas generated by 10 different people. If you allow equal input to the end result, you end up with a clusterf**k (for lack of a better word) that is a compromised version of all the ideas you received. If you take 1 open-minded person, let them consider the options available, and let them make an educated decision and run with it, they can follow through with their vision of the idea and bring it to an efficient implementation. At that point, the weak areas are obvious to everybody, and maybe the next guy decides to refine or rebuild what has been implemented... but at least there is a clear idea of what was wrong!

Our government is all about action without a clear direction these days. I know people like that; they think that motion for motion's sake is going to produce meaningful results. As a consequence, they're tossed around by every idea presented to them and never do ANYTHING with meaningful results. But, they sure know how to look busy! It's like a Harley... more efficient at producing sound without the undesireable consequence of horsepower than any other bike out there.
