max power
for my kids Christmas present. She has really gotten into photography and has shown an interest in DSLRs. I cant afford a new one, so I'm looking for a gently used unit. Must be very reasonably priced. So, who's got what?
chevysoldier
How "reasonably priced" are you looking for?
max power
Very reasonable as I have a pretty good hunch what a quick and unreasonable death it will suffer.

dorifto240
Unfortunately in pro-am and professional cameras, "good" and "cheap" are mutually exclusive. The Canon Rebel series is a good DSLR. Used ones are available, but I'd just buy a package deal for a new one. You're only looking at a few hundred dollars in difference and it's money well spent.Cord Camera on Fifth Avenue in Grandview has some decent deals on used camera bodies. Although they can be a little strange at times, they're very helpful and knowledgeable. If you can stomach hipster attitude, Midwest Photo Exchange on High Street has some decent deals as well. You're probably going to drop $400 to $500 on a body and decent lens. And don't go cheap on the lens, buy the best you can afford. It's a good investment, if you're worried about her growing out of it: Buy a Fuji Fine Pix. It's a high-end point and shoot camera. It has almost every feature of a DSLR, minus the ability to change lenses and a few other differences. But she'll get near professional looking shots out of it, can figure out if she really wants to be a photographer, and you'll only be out $300 to $400 (but you'll have a camera you can use for yourself if she doesn't like it!).You can see it's more about composition than anything else, there's a little more noise in the FUJI photograph than in the Canon.FUJI Fine Pix Photo:Canon Rebel XS:
