RE: Don't draw unless you're gonna shoot....

There are exceptions. If I go to investigate sounds of a possible burglary in my barn (no Castle Doctrine) and I come round the corner and find myself standing 10' from some guy who's loading my stuff onto his truck then where do I go from here?

a) Run back to the house and call the police (if I can safely)

b) Try to stop the crime without indicating I am armed

c) Try to stop the crime with the gun out but behind my hip, not visible

d) Try to stop the crime at the low-ready position

e) Try to stop the crime at gunpoint (order him down/detain)

The intent of having the gun with me would be in case he attacks me (seperate from the crime of burglary).

He could rush me quicker than I could draw.

So, I vote (A) if he didn't see me, and © if he did.

All the time keeping an eye out for an accomplice or two.

(This indecision is why I want to do Force-on-Force training)

i woulda yelled for him and when he turned around, i would have acted in accordance with all Ohio laws and conducted myself in a good faith manner at all times.

thats just me though

That's the kind of printout that a prosecutor pulls out of his briefcase and cuts you to pieces with while you're on the stand trying to argue that you didn't have prior intent... ;)
