flounder
The shots were staged prior to the SuperBowl for the tripod manufacturer to use in their advertising. There was no round in the gun and no fans in the stands. The layout changed a bit after the photo's and no observation was done through the scopes during the game. Only through binoculars.Yup.. this was a marketing photo.. Way to go Tonik, I wondered who would be the first to get the actual story. flounder
How do you know this?Because thats the fact about the photos. The rifle in the photos is owned by a member on some other forums who attends various comps. People know him personally and what the photos were taken for. Tonik
How do you know this?Googled it. There are several news articles about it from credible sources. Fear my Google-Fu. Fear it!!
redkow97
They should post fliers with that pic around the stadium before the game with the caption, "no really, fans are not permitted on the field at any time."
kiggy74
Because thats the fact about the photos. The rifle in the photos is owned by a member on some other forums who attends various comps. People know him personally and what the photos were taken for. This is totally why I asked if these were "real" photos to begin with. I can't believe that any qualified LEO would reveal so much about their tactics on the internet, at least not one who was planning on keeping their job. Turns out they were marketing photos = NOT LEGIT.Anyway, here's a link to a UK version of the news story surrounding the pics and the controversy growing around them. I don't care for the article much or the comments from the Brits who read it, but it does have more cool pics.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2098592/Photos-snipers-nest-Super-Bowl-police-watched-big-game-high-powered-rifles.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Edited February 10, 2012 by kiggy74

Like I said, there are always marksmen at sporting events. All you need to do it look up. They dont try and hide it.
Tonik
They dont try and hide it.Other than the 911 MWAG calls that is a good reason to open carry.
kiggy74
Nothing of opsec or tactics was reveled by these pics.Obviously, because these weren't actual snipers. They were "model's for tactical gear retailer. Fun to look at nonetheless.
