leg going numb

This year i started having a problem with my left leg going numb at mid-o.. Always happens about 5 minutes before the end of a 20 min session.. I'll start to barely notice it with not being able to pick up my foot as good to downshift.. Then it progresses to can't pick my foot up at all which is scary as hell coming off the back straight. And eventually my whole leg feels asleep. I can't figure out exactly what it could be (back, hip, etc..) Everyone that I've ridden with says my body positioning is spot on, i do have vortex rears that are raised up and back as far as they'll go.. But I've never had an issue with those on the street (although I'm not hanging off like on the track) .. I would have a P.T. I work with check it out but it's hard to exactly troubleshoot something when the only time I have those symptoms is when out on the track! Have any of you had problems with this??

Just because you may have good body position doesn't always mean you won't have to change it up to accomodate an issue. It sounds like maybe you should check if the boot is tight (not like SUPER tight, but may feel even snug), the cuff of your suit at the calf and ankle is right, etc. thts can cause circulation issues and allow it to go numb.

It could also be a deal where you're getting a pinched nerve or something and when your leg is bent, pressure on the balls of your feet, etc occurs, it goes numb.

It's really hard to tell, but it could also be fitness, etc.

It sounds crazy, but I would do some circulation exercises like yoga and stretching focusing on hip flexor and hamstring areas where main arteries pass that go to that area of your leg.

It could be due to having to much pressure on the nerves and blood vessles in the seat area (See link). It has happend to me on long bicycling rides. I found proper seating position/moving around is a must and you have to lift your butt up time to time.... For example when shooting from turn to turn lift your butt some when shifting your weight to ease some pressure off your butt for sec. Also, if you cant lift yourself by the end of the 20min session then do what the other said... Fitness! Maybe some lunges and squats will help.

This ^^^

You may also have a compressed disc or even a hernia. My hernia resulted in sciatic that made my leg numb but also gave me shooting pain thru my thigh.
