magley64 Posted July 23, 2012 Report Share Posted July 23, 2012 SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — A Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy died on Sunday evening from injuries stained after crashing a motorcycle along Merriman Road. According to Lt. Douglas Smith with the Summit County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Jeffrey Sampson, 45, of Tallmadge, died while off-duty. According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, the accident occurred around 8:55 p.m. as Sampson rode southbound on Merriman Road. Akron Police say Sampson went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree while riding a Yamaha motorcycle. The Medical Examiner’s Office says Sampson was pronounced dead at the scene.
