Shoei RF-1000 Accessories?

Anybody try the Breath Guard or the Chin Curtain for your Shoei helmet? It was 48 degrees this morning when I commuted to work and I realized that the windscreen on the VFR deflects wind right at my throat and up into my helmet. When I put my hand at my chin, it cut down on a lot of wind noise, too.

Looking for some options/suggestions. Thanks!

I have the RF- 1000 but havent tryed the accesories. I do have several size cheek pads that have been sitting around...

- On your viffer, have you tried fitting a Zero Gravity Double Bubble windshield? It bumps the wind blast up higher. Of course like most things, there is a zone where it works the best.

I don't recall how good the breath guard works but I keep the chin guard in to keep small bugs and what not from getting in. my chin guard is a net so it's not any good for blocking air.

My Star has a lined chin guard so it keeps me pretty warm except for my neck. The ZG Double Bubble works well on my bike, but I could almost stand a Laminar Lip on top of that for more deflection when I sit upright but in a tuck or even semi tucked, the DB is awesome. Maybe get one of those thin fleece pull on hoods that go under your helmet?

My 1100 came with the chin guard. Love it, get one for yours!

Love both of em. Chin guard keeps a lot of stuff out, and the breath deflector helps with fogging/maintaining airflow up and over your head, not into your face.

Thanks for the input. I didn't want to spend the money for a Zero Gravity screen. Thought that the chin curtain or something like it would be a cheaper alternative.

I use the chin curtain for my RF-1000. Like others, it helps keep bugs, grass and other stuff from getting up inside the helmet with you. I wasn't as thrilled with the breath guard as it rubbed my nose funny and never sat in the right place.

it depends on your height I bet, I have a ZG DB and it blasts wind from top of visor to mid neck so this helmet is so damn loud.

I use both and can tell a difference because I didn't put them on until mid summer. I did notice, that I tend to fog up the screen now, so i just keep the bottom vent open and keep my mouth shut! lol.

a lot of people don't know it but you can open the visor and turn the lock mech so when the visor is closed it holds it open a little itty bit to let a lot of air in but not into your eyes. works like a dream.

I love shoei helmets.

thanks for the tip! i didn't try the lock, but have left it open a finger space, and it dries out my contacts, so I'll see if this is different!

I have a RF1000 Diabolic 3 helmet and don't know WTF you all are talking about. I crack my shield in the city and close it at speed. Hmmmm....am I missing something?

this seems to be a updated/revised instructions. mine said this feature was to let in extra air on your face but not wind.

basically just twist the lock lever down while the sheild is open then when you close the shield it will leave the shield cracked open to let in air. and wind does not get in your eyes at all. it's the best feature of the helmet in my opinion.
