Liver damage, leukemia, cancer,CDC toxicology of benzeneThe EPA limited the percentage of benzene allowed in gasoline to an average of 1% (with a maximum of 5%) as of 1990. As of 2011, this limit is further reduced to an average of 0.62% (with a maximum of 1.3%). Getting gasoline on bare skin isn't a good idea.
