baptizo
While I've been looking to buy some land out in the PNW to build a house, mostly in N. Idaho and E. Washington, this isn't quite what I had in mind. http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn...rhood-fortressPatriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood FortressA group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty. The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:PatriotismPride in American ExceptionalismOur proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, andPhysical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated. The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections. The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased. While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."The Citadel's site: http://iiicitadel.com/index.html

jlhsv
A friend of mine and I were talking at work about this sort of thing. He's a self proclaimed gun nut, the revolution is comming type. Im a little more levelheaded. The short version of myside of the conversation was that no matter how much ammo you have (he claims 10k+ for multiple calibers) Food and medical supplies you store, unless you are in a very secure and very deffensible position you could never move all thouse supplies. And that unless you were willing to shoot to kill every man, woman, and child that come to your home looking for help that you would eventually be overrun or burnt out.Thats the short version. Odviously your not going to shoot everyone that walks by but if there were some prolonged crisis situation just how safe do you think you would be in the average home. baptizo
Novel idea, a tad-bit on the cultish side, and I don't think I'd want to be around the nutcases who'll flock to this "utopia". Plus, I want to own my land and home....not lease the land for 30 years. I'm also thinking that a couple of drone attacks from the Evil empire will do them in right quick so those walls won't mean squat.

shittygsxr
Honestly forget the security of the place, could you imagine a place where everyone pulled their weight. It doesn't take much when everyone pitches in.

Bubba
Won't take long for "Nut-Job" to reach critical mass with this scenario....Seriously, when/if the zombie apocalypse occurs, you K-N-O-W they're gonna eat the old, slow, fat peoples' brains first, and I've personally come to terms with the realization that I'm old, slow and fat, and I'm OK with that.
