  3. This is not meant as a cut on anyone but just a thought… Why is it that we are so quick to attack the compensation of other middle class workers? Is it because we are familiar with our pay scales and therefore we have strong opinions on what we feel that they should get paid? Or is this the Kool-Aid given to us from the powers-that-be? I think that it is the Kool-Aid. A common “Art of War” technique is to weaken your adversaries by pitting them against themselves. If we are so busy fighting amongst ourselves, whether it be white collar vs blue collar, private vs public, or anything else we cannot see or fight against the real waste fraud and abuse. Has anyone seen http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/management/2011-03-31-ceo-pay-2010.htm? (CEO pay jumped 27% while we struggle to pay the bills) Is anyone aware that a CEO in the United States earns on average 50% more than a CEO in Europe for a comparable size and valued company? Hey, I have no problem with people being rewarded for their hard work and level of education or even with receiving bonuses but let’s recognize that there is a limit for fair compensation for these individuals. When there bonuses exceed their base pay or come when the company is failing there is a HUGE problem (AIG, Leman Bros. Bank of America, Chevrolet, Chrysler, etc). But we are told that the problem is the unions? Leaves me scratching my head.

  7. A young guy from Texas moves to California and goes to one of those big "everything under one roof" stores looking for a job. The manager asked, "Do you have any sales experience?" The kid said, "Sure, I was a salesman back home in Texas." The boss liked the kid so he gave him the job. "You start tomorrow. I’ll come down after we close and see how you did." His first day on the job was rough but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down to see how things went. "How many sales did you make today?" The young man replied without hesitating, "One." The boss said, "Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales a day. How much was the sale for?" The kid said, "$101,237.64." The boss said, "$101,237.64?! What the hell did you sell?!" the kid said, "First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fish hook. Then I sold him a larger fish hook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was gonna need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him that twin-engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn’t think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Blazer." Amazed, the boss said, "A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and a truck?" "No, he came here to buy a box of tampons for his wife and I said, 'Well, your weekend’s shot, you might as well go fishing.'"

  9. Always intend to leave something in reserve but you never know when something comes up you haven't made an exception for. It would be next to impossible to go balls to the wall unless you travel the same road like you do a track. The reference and break markers are just too numerous to remember on the multiple roads I like to ride. Trying to remember all the things you need to go fast on a road would take the enjoyment out of it for me. Totally different experience than a track where most of the factors out of your control are eliminated and you can challenge yourself with minute changes. I ride very differently when in a group than I do alone. I will ride much faster than I do on a group ride by myself. I am often amazed at how much time I can make up getting to a group ride when I go by myself. I don't do much commuting riding it's mostly going to a group ride or in one & I don't ride at night much at all. I find the more you can keep a group together the less that will go wrong. This means that if the curves a far enough apart you slow down to 70 or so instead of going as fast as you can between them. This keeps the guys with less seat time from feeling like they need to catch/keep up or enter a corner too fast. Corner entry seems to be the place where most less experienced riders make mistakes that snowball into accidents. Even on a ride with your buddies/release the demons ride I will pay attention to where everyone is at so at times I check up to get a handle on things. That very thing caught me out last year when I crossed a center line checking on the rest of the guys. That to me is as bad as crashing and it still bothers me that I did it and also makes me question doing rides like that.

  12. I thought society was in trouble when people no longer accepted responsibility for their actions. I was wrong, we are in trouble now that others make excuses and feel sorry for those that do not accept responsibility for their actions.

  15. I have zero pity for anyone that has that little respect for themselves and the people around them. I don't want to work my ass off to feed myself and ensure a comfortable living only to have my tax dollars go to some fat fuck who can't even get out of a chair.

  17. Anyone have experience with this? Any good websites or information sources? My car is on many top stolen lists and in the near future I will be leaving it in Columbus in a parking lot in the evenings and am growing a little more paranoid. I am hoping to make it a little bit harder to take or at least make it take longer so something might be noticed.
