I know. It doesn't fit in with how this thread turned out. Alfred Nobel invented dynamite. He knew it would be the ultimate invention for construction and building, and would change the world as we know it. It did indeed. But not the way he envisioned. Firearms share in many ways the same fate. Design of firearms. Many were invented solely for warfare. Most of those are actual heavy machine guns. Almost no one owns those. And are generally too heavy to transport anyway. Military firearms are designed to wound, not kill. Hunting firearms are designed to kill food. In our modern world we can even find firearms that are actually designed to efficiently kill or wound people also. Those are the ones most often outlawed and found despicable by humanity. The Gatling gun design, both historical and modern, would be an example. Extremely few people own one of those. Revolvers were invented to eliminate reloads. Basically so the operator wouldn't be attacked and die while reloading. Important back in the Indian wars. But the threat was animals, not people. That whole "wild West" thing of people shooting each other all the time is for the movies, it didn't exist in reality. Semi-auto pistols are similar, with an ability to reload rapidly multiple times. This does bring into question an ability to shoot accurately. There is even one design that was meant to stop a moving car. Shotguns were invented to bring down waterfowl and birds for dinner. Rifles bring a multitude of designs and uses. Some are weapons of war, and in particular several of the designs were in great part responsible for winning wars. The majority of designs are strictly developments as hunting weapons. Story time. I watched an English teacher while I was working, instruct a class to begin an assignment on guns and firearms, pro and con, compare and contrast. Pretty much the same thing as this thread. She must have seen me thinking, so she told me her story. She grew up in rural southern Ohio, and was the oldest of several children. Her job was to feed the family. With a rifle, in the woods. I can still find neighbors that hunt and fish to either survive, or supplement the food on the table. Food supplies in groceries are rather a modern invention and have quite fragile supply lines. Should everyone know how to use firearms for hunting? Only the ones that don't want to starve. Should everyone know how to use firearms for defense of self and family? Only the ones that don't want to die. Should everyone know how to use firearms for warfare? Only the ones that want to live free.4 points

It's for this reason I keep the exhaust hot when out in public. It's not much of a deterrent but the scars around the crotch region seal the case when it comes to collecting the child support from the bike rapists.1 point

He did indeed. He's lying and he knows it. He's done nothing but judge all gun owners in this thread. Blames all of us who own them for contributing to the gun culture (his words), which is why there is violence (his words). BTW, my daughter CHOSE guns as a hobby to do with me. She asked me when she was six if she could learn how to shoot one. I told her I would teach her someday, and she took to it. We also don't bond over guns to the exclusion of everything else. We also ride motorcycles together, and hike, and see movies, and do a lot of things that daughters and fathers do. Mags is bent, and obsessed, and wants to make a point. Doesn't erase one ounce of the joy I get by seeing my daughter shoot or compete. Oh but guns, you see, they have no other legitimate purpose than to kill. Sort of like fireworks. See, they were invented from cannonade, which were weapons of war. And, a firework if used improperly or with malice will kill. In fact, people die every year with their use. If you enjoy fireworks, you're part of the problem. I blame the culture of explosives. I'd bet Magley has used some illegal fireworks in his life. Does he have an explanation for these devices whose sole purpose is to shoot explosive balls of fire? Weapons of war, that's where they came from. And, those firemen with their pulaski axes? Those were developed from the dutch halberd, the spike being for punching through armor and killing a man. Saving lives by punching through a door is not legitimate use for those...because it was designed as a killing weapon. It has no other use. It can never be used for good because if you swing it at a door, you're imagining swinging it at a person and you're just practicing for death and injury. Oh, I could do this all day. But, I won't. Mags and serpent are sad. Truly, and I mean this, sad.1 point

So for the fourth time you refuse to address why Switzerland and Israel's violent crime rate with guns is negligible even tho they have easy access to assault weapons and guns, and high rates of ownership. It completely, utterly destroys your argument, so you won't face it or even speak to it...you change the subject every fucking time. That's because you're a coward. When faced with an uncomfortable obstacle, you just ignore it like a petulant child. You've been exposed, and most of us would be embarrassed to keep marching and making it worse on ourselves. Take your ball, and go home.1 point

Must be he didn't like mjs side of the story but being all best buds and all didn't want to admit that here. Nothing makes me more upset than somone stealing stuff and then nothing getting done about it. Yes if finaly looks like something is being done but I bet nothing would have if there was not a stink raised. Its like he expected the owner to just lay down and take it and go Oh well. That is total BS!1 point

True that. Speaking of perception, here's my daughter when she was about 10 during a plate match. To the uninformed, the gun-fearing, the emotional idiot (you know who you are)...it's a little girl shooting a dangerous "assault rifle". That's some people's default, because they see a small girl holding a scary black gun with vertical grips and tactical optics. The truth is, and what's really happening is she's shooting a semi-automatic .22lr rifle that she is very safe and proficient with, absolutely the same in function and lethality as this: Actually, that Marlin is more deadly...as it has a bigger capacity...but I digress. My kiddo is also not there alone, she was surrounded by adults and children under strict supervision on a closed range, and all of the children are taught strict gun-handling rules and closely monitored for safety. Their targets are foam plates, their goal is accuracy and fun. Their reward is satisfaction, competition, relaxing time spent with their mothers and fathers on a nice fall day. (proud papa says she came in 3rd that day in ages 10-12, out of 15 kids...on her first match ever). Why does she use an AR15 style .22? Because it's ergonomically great for kids. Small grips, collapsible stock, light and adaptable...quickly switchable for many configurations, even for me to use. It's a great tool, that does everything well. I suspect that's why it's the most popular weapon sold, not because it's being bought for millions of spree shootings. It's fun. My daughter is now 16, and is an accomplished smallbore shooter. Ask her what guns are to her, and she'll tell you they're her sport. She's not got a violent or reactionary bone in her body...she still has teddy bears on her bed, but she enjoys the discipline and focus of shooting. It's her zen time, where she gets to do something she excels at. That's all, she has no interest at all in defensive or combat shooting, and that's fine she's still a kid she's got parents who watch out for bumps in the night. For her, and most gun owners, the joy of owning a gun isn't in the destruction or potential violence it's just a fun hobby...that also serves a very old survival instinct that was so important that our nation was built upon it and included it as the second most important right for the government to never impose upon. It's not even really about militias, it's about survival. The oppression of tyranny, even by the own words of the men who wrote the constitution isn't just from the King of England. It can come from the police, from a criminal, from a mob. Ask the blacks of the KKK south about tyranny. Ask Matthew Shepard about tyranny. It's not just for shooting at armies, and that's why the 2nd says "the right of the people" and not the "right of the militia" or the "right of the standing army". It was meant so that all of us can survive, if we have no other means and have exhausted all other methods of obtaining freedom from an oppressor....whether that's a corrupt local police force, or a criminal, or even a kid with red hair and a joker obsession. If you look at my daughter and see violence, or future criminal, or anything other than a little girl having fun with her dad, your lenses are broke and your bias is seeing something that isn't there.1 point

Times are tough, for some (well most) people cars are there means to get to work and earn a paycheck. It is not at all uncommon in the Service industry to negotiate a payment plan / payment date. If a payment date was agreed upon and this guy gave her his word then he should stand by it. As it pertains to this circumstance, If a man gave me his word on holding a check until a certain date only for him to cash it early I would light him up like the 4th of July .-1 points

Was curious if anyone knew Tom Amato from Delaware. One of my friends had some work done by him on there car, and he said it would be XXX price, but ended up being $400 for a battery and a air filter. I feel like she got ripped off but she had to pay to get her car back, and not only that he said he would wait XX amount of days to cash her check which they both agreed on, then the next day she woke up and checked her bank acc. and he cashed it and now she has no money for 2 weeks until she goes back to work. But does anybody happen to know this shady mechanic?-1 points
