  1. No one wants their kid to get made fun of...but you know what? Kids need to face disappointment and adversity in increasing levels before they reach adult age and have to face real problems in the real world. It creates real-life, useful coping skills. If they don't you tend to get fragile, unsure, young adults that crumble when thing don't go their....well, you get millennials.

  2. Yea one of the tough love lesson i try to pass on to my kids is that "you are nobody special, if you was respect and or notoriety you need to earn it on your own" Ive been told by others that i'm going to give my kid a complex by telling them that they aren't special. I do tell them they are special to us just not to the world.

  3. Doesn't matter. Might have been some locations where they threw salt down the last couple of below-32* days, but the 1"-plus of rain predicted for Saturday will wash it away. I'd be more aware of wet leaves and gravel wash from rural driveways.

  4. I think too many parents think it's their job to try to be their kids' best friend. Being friends is fine, but they'll make friends. They need parents. I think my # 1 job as a parent is to raise capable, well adjusted, young adults. Life lessons, tough love, dealing with disappointment is all part of that.

  5. Jim, Thank you for reaching out! I just talked to the Senate Transportation committee chair’s office (which is where this bill currently sits) and they told me that they plan to have his bill up for sponsor, and proponent testimony, on Wednesday, Dec. 5th. They did not give me a time or place yet, though I will know either tomorrow or early next week. I would be happy to pass along the information for you once I do know so that you may either attend or send written testimony in. For future reference though, this bill is number HB 548, and it will keep this number throughout its time in the legislative process. Thank you, Shayna Fritz

  6. Fucking manufactured outrage. There are actual problems in the world but no, let's sign petitions because a product we are never going to buy has a name we don't like. Fuck those people and fuck tc for caving in to them. Same shit happened to a brew pub in my neighborhood. Owner/brewer had a coconut cream ale he called 'pantry dropper' because women loved it. Once he opened his store, people from OTHER STATES AND OTHER COUNTRIES started flaming him on Facebook and Twitter. Over a beer they will never drink in a pub they'll never go to. Fucking useless misdirection of anger.
