  1. If this were aimed at parents it would rely on fear instead of instruction and show a much younger child accidentally killing his friend with daddy's revolver. Your irrational fear of firearms has no bearing on the meaning of this video. If you were properly trained in the safe handling, use and storage of a gun it would not be a constant source of concern. It is your ignorance that breeds fear.

  2. this PSA, as many PSA's do, served several purposes. one of them was for adult propaganda as you described. another way to view it is that it feeds on the school shootings, showing that this kid could easily have taken the gun and shot up a school instead of taking it to a teacher. i'm actually surprised you saw it as the kid being afraid of the gun and not a emotional play on the school shootings. no matter. ultimately, the issue at hand that you time and time again fail to understand or are too intentionally obtuse to glean is this: if they really wanted to promote gun safety, they would not show a kid stealing a gun and taking it to school, thereby providing a horrifically awful example for gun safety; they would show the owner of the gun educating the kid or properly stowing the gun or the kid talking to the parent/owner, or any number of other ways that didn't involve stupid. Instead, they decided that they would rather fart out yet more pure propaganda, which you lapped up so eagerly. so disappointing . on your last point, all the engineers i know (especially those who specialize in mechanical engineering) understand that mechanical objects don't pose any inherent risk from mere storage unless designed to operate without user input. you would build and drive a car from semi-scratch, and hit triple digits on a motorcycle but you're afraid of an inert firearm in your home? and yet you mock religious people for irrational beliefs... laughable. but what about your life? or the life of your girlfriend/fiance/wife? what if you had a kid? would the life of your kid be worth killing to defend?

  5. Let's spell it out for magdor.... The kid plays the protagonist in this little play. We can come to this conclusion by way of his actions in connection with the overall message of the psa. We must assume that the protagonist in any psa serves to provide an example of what to do, ie: the just say no ads. The good kid, when offered that evil drug marijuana, says no and walks away. This is the behavior that the directors are trying to invoke in the youth at large. By extension and following the base pattern of all public service announcements the protagonist in this video is to serve as an example of correct behavior for today's youth. In summary: this video tells kids to steal guns and bring them to school.

  7. This is a great time to reflect on the past year. For us (Carie, little dude, and myself), this year has flown by in a blur. New job for me, Carie's pregnant, little dude isn't so little, etc. There have been ups and downs, and about as much free time as there is free gold laying in my front yard. Unfortunately, that's meant I neglected the site a bit and I've only put 500~ miles on the motorcycle this year. So I'd like to end this year and begin the next with a couple New Year's resolutions. I'll need help from several folks here to pull this off. 1. Let's bring back the monthly ride and eats. I can't always be available for them, and I don't always have time to get them planned. This is where I need help from you. Would any of you like to volunteer to help me put these together? Generally it's pretty easy. Pick a destination, find a restaurant, and let them know we're coming. Ideally I'd like to see them scattered across the state so we can get more people involved. 2. I'd like to see a large fundraising event this year, but like everything else I'll need help. I would like to continue with something like Roll On Columbus. I really enjoyed helping put that event together, and it's a shame it fell apart. I believe we can do it as a group. 3. Indy MotoGP. I'd love to see a huge gathering for this this year. I'd love to see a caravan riding out 70 together. 4. I'd like to sell the rest of these OR shirts so I can get a new design printed up. What do you think OR should add to this list? What are you willing to help with?

  8. If you look at the majority of his posts you will see that he always takes an opposing view from the majority. Me thinks it is so that he can stir the pot and make as many people upset as he possibly can. This is either because he is a rabble rouser or an idiot. I tend to lean toward the latter so not to offend him. Now being an idiot is a lot like being dead. Everyone knows that they are but them. So that being said, you should not argue with an idiot. It is a lot like wrestling with a pig. All you will do is get down in the mud and get covered with their sh_t and they like it. They will just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience there. I personally never make the mistake of arguing with someone whose opinions I have no respect for since they have no merit based in fact. My suggestion would be to totally ignore any and all of their posts that have the purpose of creating an argument. In this case, it would be the vast majority of them. This is just IMHO

  10. +1000 after having just successfully parted ways with a lying, cheating, poor excuse for a wife/mother, i couldn't agree more with this statement. man the fuck up, grow a pair, get this guy on the phone, and save him from another second of supporting a stupid bitch who is essentially, robbing him. facebook has served as the accelerant to the demise of countless doomed marriages. this guy is drowning in the middle of the ocean, and you're spraying him with a fucking firehose. my only regret is giving my ex a second chance and trying as hard as i did for the children. in the end, i have to pay her quite a bit in child support each month. its enough to make most people cringe. however, i still have 50% custody of my kids, my dignity, my sweet-ass massive house, all my cars, a hotter, younger girlfriend, and plenty of money to spend on whatever the fuck i want. divorce is not as bad as i feared. my crazy ex used to spend $200 a month at starbucks---true story

  12. Nothing says you have to shoot your gun just because you are carrying. You can always choose not to shoot. Just because you give a bad guy what they want does not garauntee they won't shot you anyways. Your most likely the best person to ID them later. If you point a gun at someone you take upon the risk that their reaction could be deadly for you. But the basic idea is there are three things needed to justify using deadly force, means/ability, opportunity and intent. Is the person presenting the threat to you able to cause serious physical harm or death using their abilities or weapons they have? Are they in a position where they can carry out a threat of serious physical harm or death? Do they in your (the person about to respond in defense) opinion intend to cause death to whomever they are threatening? If the three answers are not yes than the use of deadly force is not justified.

  13. I feel like we can blame all this on ignorant fucks who are jealous of people on bikes being able to move through traffic / get to there destination faster. If theres enough room to do it safely, then im all for it.
