  1. Sorry to hear about the loss, but considering how massive the housing boom was, the industry was bound to bottom out sooner or later. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070816/economy.html?.v=3 Sounds like the problems in the stock market this week was an influence, but the economy wasn't the only factor.
  2. Well, I have pictures but my host is down. I'll get them posted as soon as I can.

  4. Agreed. Those spyware removers are never 100% effective. A format and reinstall is.

    My new toy.

http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39961 Like Nitrousbird said, this is an iron head LT1. The F Body's all came with aluminum, which are lighter and flow better. Later C4 Vette's came with LT1's, but you probably won't be finding those in the junkyards. Many mid-90's GM big body RWD cars came with the iron head LT1's, and if you are planning on building the engine up at all, there is nothing wrong with getting one of these and upgrading the heads, along with doing the same stuff you would do to one out of an f body. As for LSx motors, there are MANY variants of them, most of which are truck motors. For the price of one of these, you could have a nicely built LT1. The LS1 and LT1 do not share bellhousings. The T56 transmissions are not interchangeable between the two, so be sure of what you are buying. The LT1 does share the boltpattern of the SBC family of engines, as well as the 4.3, and is a stronger trans than the newer T56.

No need for an axle swap, you won't kill the one in there. That's a promise. You could always find a caprice, or something on the same platform with an LT1, especially if you plan on building, it will be easier to find and cheaper than one from an fbody. I just happen to have a car for sale with an LT1 in it and a 4L60E. Now, any engine swap is a pain in the ass. The easy way would be to find a premade wiring harness specific for the swap you want to do. As far as what engine to put it, you could do just about anything you imagine, but for simplicity sake I would go with only something that you can get a swap kit for. As nice as it is to be unique, it also means having to innovate and fabricate extensively. Along with the LT1/LS1 and T56 combo, there are also some cheaper possibilities out there. The GM 3800 (RWD configuration), the 4.3, Ford small blocks, 2.3T. Then, there's plenty of cool oddball stuff like the Lexus 4.0 V8. Basically, take into account what your skill level is, your budget, and what you prefer.

If he's really on camera, go to the cops and see what kind of legal action you can take.
  19. I have a friend that might be interested, he'll be in town in a couple hours. Can you pm me a phone number so I can get ahold of you when he gets here?
  20. My mom's house is located on the side of a giant hill. Her driveway branches off the neighbors driveway, making a 90 degree turn and going vertical. You have to have momentum to even have a chance of making it up in the snow, but it's hard to carry any speed through the turn without going into the bank on the side of the driveway. I was always able to get enough speed before the turn that once I got onto the steep part, the back end was slid around to the other side, and I would climb up the whole way at a 45 degree angle, with the pedal to the floor. That meant I got to take over the garage, while my mom had to park at the neighbors. As for driving the WRX in the snow - it NEVER went where I wanted it to. Whenever I tried to make a turn it would plow. When I went to tap the brakes to get the ass to slide around, the ABS would kick in, and I definitely wasn't making the turn then. I spun that thing in a situation where my tacoma would have done some nice dorifto action, and I would have easily been able to recover it.
  21. A FWD can't climb a hill in the snow like a RWD can, due to weight transfer. I got up hills in my 2WD Tacoma that nobody could get up in any FWD car. It was fun being the only person in my family that was able to get up the driveway in the winter.
  22. Using electronics to make up for a lack of driving skill FTL. My WRX is the first vehicle I've owned in my life with ABS or a driveline setup that's not RWD, and I hate it. And I've managed to never wreck in the snow, although I have come close a few times. Having a fullsize truck completely sideways on 161 on the bridge over 270 in Westerville in that narrow ass lane was kinda scary, but I managed to recover it.
