  5. Except she's shooting a commercial, and the Ducati is on a wheeled dollie. Towed by an SUV and cameras. Therefore she can wear anything she wants. Like a Ducati matching jumpsuit... She swears she wants a motorcycle now. And she's moving to the US from the UK.

  7. Music good. Can't hear nothing else. Use eyeballs. Most people don't. Car horns can be heard, but sirens... not so much. Watch for that. Both music and road noise will cause noise fatigue. The road/wind noise is worse, and just makes it happen a little faster. So I was riding in the countryside with an FM radio plugged in. This one commercial had a bigga boom bass thingie... it actually made me jump up off the seat. That didn't bother me too much. Got the heart pumping. It was when it happened the second time that I got pissed at myself...
  8. It's true. "near miss" is an aviation term meaning it was near, but it was a miss. A mile away in an aircraft is a "near miss". Something too close when you're both moving 350+.
  9. That's a good clearance price though. It's 39.99 retail, and not discounted many places. edit: nm, I found them at 25.90 ...
  10. Italy believes in a form of torte law. Lots of people can be found partially guilty in a criminal court. Criminal prosecution in Italy is a bit different than in other countries. They tend to accuse anyone, and let the courts figure it out. Worse, in Italy, you can be found guilty, and it doesn't mean much, the real trial starts later. It's hard to explain, and even harder to ever understand. France is also touchy, they prosecuted engineers, mechanics, pilots, etc... when the last Concorde (French) crashed in Paris.
  11. Marshals may face manslaughter charges over Shoya Tomizawa death
  12. I've had keys cut from the VIN number on a registration. Call and ask somewhere if they can do that. Like Carl Zipf. Take your registration with you, so they know it's yours. http://www.carlzipflockshop.com/contactinformation/
  13. I thought that was part of the original CCW law. And yet I've known places that ban whatever they want in their parking lots. I guess this is just a specific separate law that the employer can violate and be prosecuted.
  14. I looked. They sell the Mac header and can 4-1 for 275-300. The original bike had two mufflers. This is an aftermarket 4-1 exhaust system that needs a new muffler. Those are hard to find and/or figure out what fits. But Dennis Kirk does have a universal Mac slip on for 4-1. $156 It fits Honda 1975/1976 550F that had the factory 4-1. It's approx the right size, but no guarantee it will fit. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=25565&store=Main&catId=&productId=p25659&leafCatId=&mmyId=
  15. Ok, I get the picture. You're trying to fit up to the header collector. All of those mufflers are for individual exhaust pipes.
  16. It's something that will eventually happen to all riders. I've been caught drifting on streets that were wet or didn't look wet but were slippery. Let it spin but not too much, control the throttle. And don't suddenly let off the throttle either, it will jerk the bike upright and wobble around. Smooth is good.
  17. Here... JC Whitney... I've actually used these on old bikes. Works...Cheap... I always liked the shorty model. http://www.jcwhitney.com/chrome-plated-replacement-mufflers/p2006468.jcwx?filterid=d10293y1980j3 http://www.jcwhitney.com/chrome-plated-replacement-mufflers/p2006468.jcwx?skuId=142712&filterid=d10293y1980j3 Get some packing also, some of these cans are loud. Note that not all of them might open to install packing. http://www.jcwhitney.com/stainless-steel-wool-wraps-for-muffler-repacks/p2015022.jcwx?filterid=c21018d10293y1980j3 http://www.jcwhitney.com/muffler-re-pack-material/p2006469.jcwx?filterid=c14650j3 http://www.jcwhitney.com/fmf-muffler-packing/p2027448.jcwx?filterid=d10293y1980j3
  18. I do remember scoring a scratch and dent pipe for my 550F from Dennis Kirk(eBay). Cheap. Something old stock is out there, just have to find it. The gutted can needs some baffle as well as an end cap on it.
  19. It's a lost art on motorcycle, for on the street anyway. I believe that putting old bias ply tires on a bike would make it much easier. These newer radials are so sticky compared to what I remember "back-in-the-day". With old style tires, sliding the rear wheel around a corner was fun.
  20. Yes, but David didn't know that. You can sense the indecision. And would you try to set for that turn with the rear wheel skidding left and right? I'm ok with doing that, I've done it enough times. But I wouldn't recommend it.
  21. Scorpion sold photochromatic (photochromic) shields for a while. Iron Pony couldn't get many, and they sold quickly. I never managed to find one. Some other company bought the supplier of that item, and it hasn't been seen since. Bell currently sells them for the Bell Star. Maybe that's where all the production went to. edit: I looked on the Bell helmet website, and it's not shown for sale. Dunno... Guess we wait for this Shield Tech to start up. This technology so far has a history of failure. I did find some for sale though: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/69/17680/ITEM/Bell-Transistions-Photochromatic-Shield-for-Star-Vortex-Helmets.aspx
  22. I watched again, and took the wide angle lense into account. Yes, you carried speed into an impossible turn. This goes back to that "find the corner line first on roads that aren't familiar". One thing I think we've all found on Ohio back roads. When a little arrow is posted at the turn to show the turn, they aren't kidding. There's several on 555 like that. Actually, on 555 one of the turns has a BIG arrow on the corner.
