  1. Holy crap, it's a bike for SpiderMan...
  2. Us ex-Army and ex-Marine don't need no pics. Just imagine us with 30-40 pounds of ordnance and a ton of crap that goes with it. That is all.
  3. geez, I got a GoPro, but mine shakes like no tomorrow. It blurs the video or stills beyond usefulness. I don't know why, I have tried a bunch of stuff with no luck. I switched to a cheap digital camera that takes a similar or better quality video, and has anti-shake tech. Maybe I'll try again with the GoPro. I do think mine isn't as wide angle as yours. Maybe mine is just an older model that doesn't do so well. One guy at work says they don't work very well unless you put them right on the center line of the bike or car. Anything else will pick up too much vibration. I built a handlebar mount right on the centerline for the digital camera, but have never tried mounting the GoPro up there yet. Maybe I will try that and see what I get. Part of the attraction, is the little all weather waterproof box that it fits inside. But so far, I have never wanted to run a camera in the rain.
  4. IP is right, the fork lift will not unload the fork tubes. You would need to lift on the triple tree or the frame to unload the fork tubes. I cheat and back up to my van and strap it down over the back seat to lift the front end. But I have a center stand I can put on to do that.
  5. It says it will run on a couple of AA batteries. But I thought most of this stuff needed an inverter. Daft-Punk-Tron I'd have to have the blue though:
  6. It is really new, as of April 19th. They are taking info for potential places for sales. http://www.lumabrite.com/html/technology.html argh, nm... Casper posted the same... edit: now that I think about it... I saw something like electric vinyl at one of the trade shows last year. I doubt I'll remember what outfit was offering it though. But I can google it to death: http://www.electricvinyl.com/shop/com_perfalite_01.php http://www.easia2u.com/eAsia2u/english/template/template01/rfq/browse/item.jsp?compid=878&itemid=3006 http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/104788305/Electric_Vinyl_Electroluminescent_EL_panel_Large.html http://www.beingseen.com/flatlite.html and now for something completely different, electroluminescent wiring http://daft-punk.hyves.nl/forum/2048138/36Bi/Daft_Punk_Jacket_Red_EL_lights/
  7. ok, I looked it up in the service manual. The instructions are for a fork tube removed from the motorcycle, which you don't need to do. Lizard1 is right, you will need the manual and some confidence to do this one. You might want to take the fork off and drop it off for repair. Or get some one with R6 experience to help you. You will have to set the distance on the damper rod adjuster that is on the new cap. Either to the service manual spec, or to what was already set on the damper adjusting rod adjuster (the cap bolt). Check the damper adjusting rod locknut position. (might as well as long as it's open.) Set the cap bolt rod adjuster distance to specification. (the service manual is fuzzy on how to measure that) Check cap o-ring if you don't have a new one. Grease the o-ring. Torque the cap bolt adjusting nut to 15Nm (11 ft-lb) Torque the cap bolt to 23 Nm (17 ft-lb) Do not drop anything inside the fork tube. Zero tolerance. Also assuming the damper adjusting rod inside, was not damaged. If the damper adjusting rod is damaged, let someone else repair the fork tube.
  8. Just picked this up off of columbusbiker.com calender: East Main Hooters Cycle Sundays 12:00 PM Beginning May 3rd, East Main Street Hooters will have "Cycle Sundays".?It's an afternoon Bike Night that start at Noon and end at 6pm.? There will be weekly giveaways, 9.99 Coors Light Buckets, and Biker Frequency Cards that offer the Bikers Discounts. It could be a mistake. They list the Hillard Hooters bike night as being on Friday, when it's Thursday. Dunno. So maybe there are two Hooters events. You can get your little Hoot Owl punched twice a week. Ha
  9. Unload the front forks first. If it's air compressed adjustable, release the air pressure first. Lift the bike so that the front forks hang free. Otherwise the extra load on the spring will pop the cap off harder, and make it very difficult to compress back by hand. It will still have a small amount of spring compression that you have to overcome when putting the new cap on. Be careful when threading the new one on, don't cross thread it. Thread it on straight. That's how it works on any of mine. When in doubt, use the service manual for details on how-to. I didn't look this one up. Maybe later. I push down on the cap with a rag and the palm of my hand (both hands, sometimes). I turn it till it engages the threads. If it doesn't, I turn the cap a quarter turn and try again. It can be awkward, and sometimes it's not the hands that are turning, but the body and arms. It might take several tries before it starts threading and stays there. Turn it by hand to make sure it's not cross threaded. Torque it to the proper torque to finish. Put the air pressure back in. Check the air pressure in the other one. There might be a better way, but I don't know it.
  10. You can't make stuff like this up, you know. Stuff like this is all too real, too often. I'll go with the Zombie theory.... but there are some very scary PCP stories around.
  11. yeah, lol... dig a big hole, it fills with water, the Feds call it a wetland, and fine you big bucks for not maintaining it, and it becomes protected, and you can't change it... Progress is wonderful...
  12. Motorcycle crash sends Lancaster man to hospital BY JOE GIESSLER • The Eagle-Gazette Staff • May 17, 2009 LANCASTER - A Lancaster man was taken to a Columbus hospital by MedFlight after a motorcycle crash in the 1500 block of West Fair Avenue Saturday afternoon. Scott Mason, 31, was traveling eastbound on West Fair Avenue when he lost control and went off the right side of the road, apparently striking a sign in front of a building, Lancaster Police Officer Ray Hambel said. He was transported by Lancaster Medics to Fairfield Medical Center then MedFlighted to Grant Medical Center in stable condition, according to the nursing supervisor at FMC. When contacted Saturday, officials at Grant Medical Center did not have a record of Mason being admitted. Mason was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The helmet was strapped to the rear of his Kawasaki DX-6R. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Hambel said a witness reported seeing Mason raise his arms immediately before the crash. "It doesn't necessarily mean he was showboating," Hambel said. He said Mason could have had a medical condition or a bug might have flown into his eye. The 1500 block of West Fair Avenue was closed in both directions for about an hour as crews worked at the scene. Lancaster Police Officer Kirk Cressley, who is investigating the accident, said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Cressley said Mason likely would be cited for failure to control his vehicle.
  13. It's for drag racing or boulevard bling cruising. Either way, you'll spend enough money to have bought a second bike or two. And the existing handling will change too much. Think about some performance or custom parts for what you have now, if you want to spend money. Like a power commander, or an exhaust. Or a custom paint job. Or powder coated wheels.

Buy a cowboy hat. It's mandatory. And works well in Ohio, we're cowboys and cowgirls too.

  18. Just had two girls turn left in front of me to get into the airport. I was in the Jeep though. Dead square in front of me, but I was expecting something stupid. The approaching lanes to my left were all open, I had an out. ABS brakes are nice, I have to admit. Missed them by about 10 feet, dead ahead. To make it worse, she shot between two cars in the right lane also. Guess somebody was late for a plane, huh? Let's see, odds of being dead when trying not to be late... not good odds, when driving like that. People like that you often read about a few days later, in the news. Not good news.
  19. Does your bike have parking lights? Is the wiring harness plugged in correctly? If you unplug the turn signal relay, the lights will go out, if they don't, it's plugged into the parking light connection? edit: you're going to be looking at the turn signal relay anyway. Plug the relay connections a few times and see if it starts blinking again. Maybe just dirty connections.
  20. I'm ready to witness a possible awesome rip-off, is what. The same bike is on craig's list on the same day in Denver. heheheh http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/1175344781.html
  21. yeah, more likely we'll have cardboard cars like East Germany...
  22. lol, dude... what will you do if in the future everything is production carbon fiber? Buy plastic after market parts? Don't worry, by then the carbon would all be painted so we can't see it.
  23. I kinda googled Skur carbon and found http://www.skurccf.com/ Color dyed carbon is a relatively new process. Previously it was a color dyed fiberglass over the top of the carbon. It's still hard to tell which one is used on top, and also hard to tell what materials are used underneath. But it appears that the future might be color matched carbon parts for cars and bikes. I like carbon also.
  24. If they are holding your bike title, they own it. They could repo the bike or hold the title for ransom, heh, to get some of their money back. Credit checks can mess up anything. But they might be willing to go half the amount or something. You never know till you try. If it were a large loan, they would probably hesitate at the lack of employment. Mostly I meant getting enrolled in a credit union doesn't matter about employment. I think that if you are a credit union member, you can get some sort of loan, even if it's not as much as you actually wanted. I'm sure they have some sort of limits and rules. I'm not the best person to ask about how loans go now days. I haven't done one in a long time.
