yeah, sounds like a valve thing, or lack of oil, heh. Are you sure the exhaust valves aren't set too tight? If too tight, they really dog it down when it warms up good. Easy to tell, start it up and see if it's ok when cold. yes, stay tuned, for the next episode of This Old Honda...

22 staples, 2 titanium screws... bet we could turn that into a halfway decent country western song...

A slow death sounds like the fuel flow tapered off. Tank pressure, pinched line, sumthin.. wait, isn't an open pipe a lean condition?

Yeah, I've seen plates crack from vibration. You've got a harmonic vibration. Try to dampen it out by using rubber washers to mount stuff, or adding weight somewhere that feels like it's vibrating less (half way between a length that is vibrating). You probably have to rev it up to road rpms to see and feel when and where the vibration is happening. For the plate to crack like that it would literally have to hum. Rubber washers or a gasket of rubber might fix it. Under the plate or the tail light bracket where it mounts on the fender, or the fender to the frame, etc. You might lose the ground for the lights, but a ground wire will fix that. I used to crack tail light bulbs constantly, on one bike. I cut a gasket for under the tail light bracket on the fender, and added a wire between two bolts, tail light to frame, to keep the lights working.

Excellent. I really like PAX and Cherry Point. You'll like it a lot.

Back-in-the-day, as a student at OSU and commuting from the East side, I rode the bike in as often as possible. Understand that I went everywhere in car or on bike at full throttle as often as possible. Yes, I had a lot of speeding tickets. One wet and dark morning, I rode the bike to school, sliding the back tire around corners for amusement. Oops, and did that on a corner next to the fire station. A motorcycle cop was there in a cruiser, it was too wet for their bikes to be out that day. Yup, he saw that, and he chased me down, and stopped me on High Street. There was nothing I could say, he did all the talking. I just waited while he went off on me. I figured saying nothing would be best. Yeah, he was really pissed. He eventually settled down and got to it. One more ticket... for speeding, and there was no way he ever got a clock on me at all. I wasn't even moving, at a red light, when he got to me. Screw it, I still like to slide around corners...

Next time hook up the rear of the exhaust with wire or something, while the header bolts/nuts get started in the front. Header flanges can be touchy about leaking, so it all has to be close to final position when torqued down. Yeah, I know... I said "hook up the rear", I left that wide open... Yeah I know... I said "wide open", I left.... oh nm, geez...
-
What? No hillbilly in ya? Throw a horse blanket on the front lawn, and lay the bike out on it's side. So much easier to work on that way...
-
I always check and re-torque stuff after somebody works on something for me. Rarely is it done either right, or the way I want it. Which is why I do all my own work, the majority of the time. Considering 4 (or 2 for a single disc) little caliper bolts hold my life and my bike ransom, I think it's worth checking them often. Good deal, that you found them before trouble. And no, it's not all right for a mechanic or a shop or anyone, to send a vehicle out with malfunctioning brakes.

heck, I'll wave to bicycles, especially female bicycles... but even more fun, is to slow down when passing an Amish buggy going the other way, look right at them all, ... and give them a big wave howdy! They love it...

Does anybody understand the attraction to trikes?
ReconRat replied to magley64's topic in Daily Ride
I like trikes, but I don't think they are stable with 3 wheels. So would never own one. So I guess it will be a Jeep Wrangler for me when that day comes. -
Yeah, well, got another reason not to buy a little no name tiny bike. That front wheel casting broke up too easy. And the little brakes probably didn't help a lot. Poor kid must of had a badly broken leg. Most of the jeans was still in the street. Cut to remove.

Car and little Laser bike tangled at Naughten and Cleveland in front of CSCC campus. Front wheel shattered it's spokes. Rider reported to have broken leg and transported. Might have been a CCAD student. I didn't recognize the Laser.

Any MIL codes on the gauge panel Malfunction Indicator Lamp? Flashing?

Starter Valve Synchronization is also on the troubleshooting list, and I got no idea what it is. And I got one on my bike also. Guess I got some reading to do.

Agreed, intermittent is probably an electronic sensor. Maybe one or more is a potentiometer type position sensor or switch, or something, and cleaning it would work. Throttle position sensor. Ignition cutout devices (kickstand). I've downloaded your service manual, but haven't looked at it yet. I wonder how many copies of the cbr600rr manual I got now... btw, it almost sounds hot also, is the radiator fan on, or should be on, when this happens? Temperature ok?

Cheap Smith & Wesson wrap around safety glasses. Impact resistant (polycarbonate) and tight fit to face. Smoke, green, brown, yellow, clear, etc. Collect the whole set... under open or full helmet visor, of course...
-
Poor performance at low and idle speed: Ignition timing (probably not a factor on computer ignition) fuel flow (including jetting) fuel injector (or carbs) leaks in the air intake poor spark more specifically: backfiring or misfiring during acceleration: Ignition system malfunction

A lot of people use newsgroup services. Even if there is a charge for use. Impossible to trace. I use creative searching, to find what I want. Like searching for FTP sources. Eventually I luck into major sources of download, that are not observable. Takes some work. A lot of students seem to set up huge FTP sources on a temp basis. But I avoid most standard sources, and hunt for only 320kbps and up stuff. Sounds better to me. 256kbps minimum. 720kbps-1440kbps sounds fantastic. And that would be Russian blogs and German file servers. And I advise much caution when using Russian sources. Major problems with viruses. It happens a lot. There's also a ton of stuff on Taiwan Chinese servers, but I can't read anything at all. Makes it difficult. edit: there are also a lot of English music blogs that link to the same file downloads. If you snoop about on the internet for a while, you'll find some of them that you like. I just did a general search for music download blogs and got 295,000,000 hits. Same warning, some of those websites might have major or minor virus/spyware problems. edit 2: ok, just found one I will be checking out. http://www.redferret.net/pmwiki/pmwiki.php It's a list of mp3 websites. edit 3: Another trick is to learn how to rip streaming content, and automatically create mp3s from the broadcast. edit 4: ok ok enough, last edit... My little tiny portable mp3 player will rip straight from it's built in FM radio. What more can you ask for.
