  1. Thats good, so where you been hiding?

  2. The EGR valve cleaning was done today during Repair #4, the plugs were done during Repair #1. The car drove ok home and later Melissa took it out a few places and it was fine. Guess we wait and see.
  3. I will still take my work van there for its scheduled maintenance, company pays for it, not my money. Not sure about the Mazda, a lot depends on whether or not the problem is "actually" fixed.
  4. Oh I don't know if they had 'em back out since they replaced them. I really appreciate ALL you guys input on this, they weren't gonna replace the ignition coils if it hadn't been for me tellin him I wanted them done anyway after you all called BS on the EGR valve! Assuming its fixed, I don't think I came out toooo bad considering everything that actually got replaced. What I mean is if I had to pay for every bit of work/parts they did it would have been much more. BTW, I questioned them on the price they charged me for the cat ($517), told him I found cats in the range of $115-$200 online. But he said the one they got was a genuine Mazda part that they got from Mazda, so that price probably aint to bad considering I'm sure it would have been more to have it replaced at a Mazda dealership.
  5. Not gonna touch that one. Anyway. Sawmill Lanes is not far for us either. Bowling Palace on North side (Cleveland & 161) is cool too. There are lanes in Hillard too but I don't like the way they charge you, you don't pay per "game" you pay $27/hr per lane with up to 8 people on a lane. We got screwed there last time cause all we got to play was two games in 2hrs with 6 people on our lane, I felt it was a bit of a ripoff.
  6. ALL the parts they replaced were all original, don't doubt that any of them needed replaced except maybe the O2 sensors. I just hope the problem is fixed , should know in a few days I guess, it never took long for it to come back each time.
  7. Soooo, when you get the garage code from Dave, whens the party gonna be???? Empty houses are great for throwin a big fricken bash! Oh and Dave, sorry I missed your party and didn't get a chance to say goodbye! PS. Give moose the garage code
  8. I know the smell you're referring to but do not recall smelling it when he showed me the cat earlier and don't recall ever smelling it come from the car.
  9. The plugs, cables, both O2 sensors, both catalytic convertors and now the ignition coils have ALL been replaced. Hopin its nailed now. BTW, they showed me the original catalytic convertor, and while I've never seen the inside of a new one, the inside of mine looked like royal shit.
  10. Definetly! We'd be down for some bowling, Melissa and I both like to bowl and I got a new ball for Christmas! http://www.palacelanes.com/
  11. This morning the light was FLASHING. Anyway, here are all the codes that the thing put out since this all started... P0301, P0303, P0421, P0300, and I believe thats the order in which they were all received from the start up until today. I got the car home now, they replaced the ignition coils and cleaned the EGR valve like I mentioned earlier. Just like repair #3, this was a freebie, cost us nothing "additional". Here is the invoice for Repair #4 The wife is out running some errands with the car and I plan on driving it extensively tomorrow to see how it goes (fingers crossed).
  12. Ok, you guys are great by the way. Based on what you both just told me I just had another discussion with the mgr and he's going to go ahead and replace the ignition coils/cables anyway. That was kinda the original plan anyway, he has the parts here and I have to time, so I told him I want them replaced. They couldn't get the EGR valve off anyway, they said one of the bolts holding it on was gonna break if they forced it, so they're putting some kind of potent cleaner thru it. Waiting on moose to pick me up for lunch, will post more later. Oh and btw Don, its Boyds Goodyear in Hilliard... http://www.boydsgoodyear.com/
  13. Just talked to the mgr for an update, when they brought it in from the lot this morning the light was off and it started and ran ok. They took it out and drove it around Dublin for awhile and it never happened again. They have not (as of yet) done anything with the ignition coils/cables but are now looking at the EGR valve, looking for a chunk of carbon or somethin that might be cloggin it up.
  14. Those two pics are crazy man, thats not leaning, thats damn near falling
  15. Update....... So check this shit out. If you've been following this thread you know that the engine light went out Wednesday night and the car has been running fine since then, well.... So I let the car warm up about 10minutes in the garage this morning before heading back over here to Boyds. Light was off, started fine. Ran fine all the way to the parking lot of Boyds, I come to a stop in the parking lot and before I could put it in park it starts shaking and the engine light comes on and starts flashing, I put it in park and it continues to shake and flash. How's that for perfect timing! They got wifi here and I brought my laptop so I'll be off and on here for probably several hours.
  16. Hey! I used to have a Plymouth Sundance America, red (like that color) manual, long time ago, was a great car! Got a pic of it somewhere, can't find it at the moment.
  17. I don't think anyone thats driven a Protege5 can say they didn't like driving it. The handling is incredible, its got a very low tight suspension. Kinda like a gokart, very tight steering. Its an absolute blast to drive fast on curvy roads.
  18. Yeah the car is great, up until now we didn't have any problems other than the usual... tires, brakes. Why did you replace the plugs/wires @ 35K??????? You know they're rated for like 100K miles. Our next car won't have low profile tires thats for sure. While they look great, and the suspension and handling is fantastic, they cost a fortune and aren't that great in the snow. I didn't know yours was a manual, now I'm jealous, ours has the dual-transmission automatic which I drive in "manual-mode" all the time, love it. For those reading this and don't know, our cars are even the same color I just noticed after posting this that your car is right behind you in your avatar, nice. LOL.
  19. I'm tellin ya, duct tape FTW!!
  20. I always like when people post links to videos from sites I'm not familiar with, I get tired of youtube you know, check out these two I found on this same site... Warning, contains naked boobies, she really shouldn't have been dancing like that with that outfit... http://www.therundown.tv/videos/wtf-files/boobs-come-out-during-salsa-dance-competition/ Warning, graphic nastyness... http://www.therundown.tv/videos/wtf-files/man-gets-his-arm-ripped-off-by-a-tiger-at-the-zoo-graphic/
  21. Some fucking duct tape would handle that situation. One across the mouth, and both arms taped to the arm rests, problem solved.
  22. Don't worry man, we got you on speed dial. So anyway, the light was still off this morning, started fine and ran fine all the way to work for Melissa, light still off when she got to work. So now I'm worried that if I tell them this at the shop they won't want to replace the coils and cables on Friday, cause I think they were gonna do that for free. Still have the ride home from work tonight, we'll see.
