I'm in the same boat as you are. Just getting ready to start riding this year. I got the Bell Star helmet for 300 brand new. I'm getting Draggin Jeans/ Liner for my pants, and a leather jacket. I have not decided if I'm getting "Riding Shoes" yet though. I hate boots, and I don't know if riding shoes are necessary for commuting/ joy riding. I'm also going to grab some gloves, but those seem to just be personal preference.
  2. Sounds like a cool idea to me. If you ever get closer to Columbus, I'd love to get some pointers as this will be my first season riding.
  3. Probably have seen it before, but it's not posted in here so... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycuD76CnrZI
  4. Okay. Thank you. Good luck on the sale then.
  5. I need a jacket but have no idea on a size chart. I'm assuming it's to large for me but I'm 5'8 140lbs. Way to small or could it fit?
  6. I signed up for Basic Riders 1. First course offered at COTC/ OSU Newark.
  7. I'll get back you you on at least one of these by the end of the week. I'm extremely busy picking up a second job and being a full time student, so I would not have lots of time to run around to a lot of different stores.
  8. Are you stuck on keeping these together? How hard is to get shop owners to allow you to place these in their stores?
  9. Bingo. I don't plan on tracking this year at all so it's not a huge deal for me. Thanks for the info though.
  10. Okay thank you. The throttle would just slowly slide back into place, but it would make it back. I'll have him check it out and get back to me as soon as he can when the problem is fixed. Thanks for the help.
  11. I went to look at a bike today (03sv650s) and the throttle was sticking a little bit. The owner has been very very informational about everything about the bike as far as communicating scratches/ maintenance prior to meeting. The throttle was sticking a little bit, with the stock handle grips. Could this be due to the cold weather? My friend that went with me said that he had the same problem with his dirtbike, and he cut off the rim around the inside and it fixed the problem, but I don't want to ask/ expect the owner to do the same with his grips. The problem did seem new to him, and he thought it was due to the cold weather. Bike shifted through all gears well, everything was very well cleaned and maintained. He has done a tune up recently including new spark plugs, front and rear sprockets, oil in the forks etc... He said he would look into the throttle sticking.
  12. So they are a good all around tire, just not good for track, which I don't plan on doing at all my first season. Good deal.
  13. Michelin Pilot Road2 2CT How do these hold up on the street? The bike I'm looking at getting has a set of these on it with 200 miles on them. Should I be looking to get a different set come spring time, or will they hold up just fine?
  14. Thank you. I don't lan on any long trips until the summer, so it's not on the top of the list of things to get done, but I'm definitely looking into it.
  15. What seat do you suggest for an sv? I'm getting one this spring and plan on taking a trip or two on it.
  16. Wow, what a read. As a business salesman your main priority is to get bikes sold, not joke around with your customers. You don't know someone well enough to joke with them, and it could lead to having a customer walk out the door with a bad image, which in this case happened. No matter how good of a salesman this guy is, you just missed out on a sale, and plenty more from the way people view your shop now. Salesman are there to make the customer happy, get bikes off the floor, and to be sure that their experience with your company is top notch. Joking can be done after the fact. As far as out the door goes, when this is brought up that means they want to pay that price and that is it. They don't want all the extra amenities that are offered, and don't want to deal with tax or any of that. An easier way to deny that offer is to just say that you can't go that low. Common sense should tell you that.
  17. www.bellhelmets.com I ordered a Bell Star for 300 dollars. I liked the fit on it a lot better than the shoei, and the scorpion helmets I tried on.

    Cops

My buddy has one of them. Works like a charm when it's minor violations, but won't help you for anything big.
  19. Looking at a sv650 on Tue with my buddy. He knows enough to do a good maintenance run over it, and the guy has paper work of his most recent compression test, new front and rear sprockets, new chain, new tires. Sounds good to me, just hope the bank approves my measly loan I'm asking for in this shit economy.
  20. I tried on some Icon, Alpine Star, and Shock or something of that sort. All were pretty much a Large fit. The XL had to much room at the fingers and the mediums did not give me much room to move my hands comfortably.
  21. Thanks for the offer to head down there gixxie. If it comes down to it I'll head down but I'll make it a last resort.
