Cool deal man, i really appreciate the help. a buddy came over and got it figured out. one, it was a 750cfm carb that was absolutly drowning the motor, 2 it was a few teeth out on the dist. we still have to tune the new carb, a used 650, so i will start here. thanks again. So i have been trying to get my buddies camaro runnin right, and i am thinking that we have a major carb issue. its a 4160 style i think, no metering plate on the secondaries, so i know its not a 4150. holley wasn't much help, they said i needed the carb size and type, but they couldn't tell from the numbers on the choke horn. Its on a 355, and what its doing is it will idle fine, but its running crazy rich, to the point of burning my eyes if im in the garage while its running. also, if you try and crack it, its just loading up. timing is set @ 15 deg initial running a pro billet msd w/ 20 deg total advance, so the motor should be seing around 35 total if it would ever spin up. How do you baseline a carb, as in what should the block be set at, the accel pump arm adj, and anything else? i have the metering block screws out 1 1/4 turns from full in, and am not messing with anything else. i'm basicly carb stupid, i always had my grandpa do mine, i mean i can make little changes, but i need to figure out what to do, i think 4 other people have had their hand in it, so who know what jets are in it, or what if anything they messed with. i need to get it running decent enough to hit it a bit to see what all it needs. Any help would be great guys, i'm lost! thanks matt?

Linn, that is my buddy gregs old car, i was actually there that night, i had the slow 04. yea it was you i ran, it was me, you, a red foxbody, a black mitsu, and a stock black srt4, and i think a primered 240. it was the first night i was on spray, and yes you won. i have a copy of the vid somewhere, and i'm still calling bullshit that your car was stock back then.... j/k man, i have seen a few other freak ls1's so its entirly possible that you were actually rockin just a lid. and catback. and a tune. and gears. and and and.... Hey all, i was on here probably 2 years ago when i had my yellow srt4, there was a vid of me runnin dude with the silver z28 that at the time had an ss hood and some other shit. Anyway i ended up movin to DC and just recently moved back, so though i'd get back in the game. I have a 04 Mustang GT now, yes its slow. but hey, I am always game to run, even if i do get my ass handed to me. Lookin forward to talkin to all of ya, Oh and i was up at ips last weekend and all i can say is holy shit there are some fast ass cars around here!
