  1. Earl Warren was a perfect example of a perceived conservative nominee who, as chief justice, was about as liberal as they come....

Former republican governor of California, appointed as Chief Justice by Eisenhower as a conservative who could appeal to the moderate liberals.   After taking the bench, he became the champion of every liberal cause which came before the court.

So much for party "tags" or labels.

  2. LAX Ammo.com has Winchester (white box) .380 FMJ 95 grain (500 rounds) for $130 plus $15.95 for UPS ground shipping.

Same thing on Lucky Gunner or Bulk Ammo sells for about $209 plus shipping.

I ordered 500 rounds at Christmas and another 500 a few minutes ago....

  3. The 9 mm Shield is an excellent choice for concealed carry.  I picked mine up at Fin, Feather & Fur last January for $379 but they've had them on sale as low as $349 in November.

Also, you can find some good prices on 9mm ammo at Luckygunner.com or bulkammo.com.  Both sites ship out of Knoxville, TN.

Whatever you decide upon, just make sure you practice, practice, and practice....

  4. There is a Ruger factory 7+1 round LCP magazine but they sell fast locally. Best to get them online.

I picked up two 7+1 mags for the LCP at Fin Feather & Fur, but they probably would have been a few bucks cheaper on-line.

  5. I carry my LCP almost every day. Alternative carry is my M&P Shield 9mm. Buy a couple of 7 shot mags for the LCP and it's much easier to hold onto than the 6 shot it comes with from factory.

Like Cuz said, the LCP is great to carry. Front pants pocket in a pocket holster and also fits in my MC jacket pocket nicely. Also have OWB holsters for both. The Shield shoots a lot better but the LCP is much easier to conceal.

Fin Feather & Fur always has the best prices on both.

+1 on the Hogue pinned grip. Greatly improves handling.

  6. We just came up 250 from Snowshoe area yesterday.  250 was okay from the south up to Hundred, but it was really a mess between Hundred and Cameron.

Also, the phillipi covered bridge is closed for construction, so just take the "business 250" route around it.  not a big deal, it just goes over the concrete bridge about 1/2 mile away.

  7. How tall is he? That low model is designed for shorter riders. Has the prospective buyer sat on this thing or ridden it yet? I wouldn't buy a bike I couldn't at least sit on and check out leg comfort, etc.

BTW, that lighthouse pic was taken about a mile from my house.....

  8. Wear Compression shorts or something similar. Definitely avoid cotton underwear.

+1 on the spot tracker. I've carried one for past 4. Never had to use it, but nice to know its there. ( I use the tracking feature every ride.)

If you can't borrow one, Pauly's advice about texting someone your location occasionally is a great idea.

Otherwise, stay hydrated, and stop every few hours to stretch off the bike.

On routes, 33 from Elkins to Harrisonburg is a blast. I was just on it Memorial Day weekend.

    Enjoy the ride.

  9. Just wanted to thank Paul for getting the new Tourances mounted on my V-Strom this morning. The 70 mile ride to his place was a little "brisk" when I left home at 7:30 am (45 degrees).

See you at the Gap in a few weeks.
