  1. Thanks, but I think we want to keep this local for now. I need a few more rides before my confidence level (in myself and in my bike) is to the point where I'll ride for hours in the middle of nowhere. How's meeting up at noon @ Iron Pony sound for everyone? Radar looks great, don't expect any more rain for the rest of the day.
  2. It sounds like you are in the health care field, and since I have no idea how much the surgical stuff costs I'm going to assume you are correct. Pharmaceutical companies have absolutely no business hawking prescription only drugs on national television. The only good it does is to send the hypochondriacs running to the nearest family doctor to get a script written for symptoms they think they have. Even worse is the ads are being placed on somewhat expensive timeslots like the evening news. Watch the evening news sometime and count all the drug ads, I'm willing to bet you don't get through a single commercial break without hearing about at least 2. Doctors should be educated about the new drugs, then they take that info, marry it to their medical expertise and knowledge of your unique situation, and prescribe what is necessary for you.
  3. I'm in as well, just need time and place.
  4. Sorry I missed you at the cookout, give me a call so we can talk about the room. Feel free to come over today/tomorrow if you want, I'm cleaning this weekend.

    E 270 Ride Report

I've NEVER seen 3 cruisers in such close proximity like that. Sure there's always the one before the 161 flyover in the median, but never 3.

  7. It's been for-fucking-ever since I heard that song. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! You wouldn't happen to have the .mp3 you can email over would you?
  8. Would like to know more about these "to the death matches"...

    E 270 Ride Report

Are you talking 10 cops down 71 between mansfield and cbus? I topped out at 80/85 trying to pass a semi, if the cop had his radar on me he had me dead on. I was wearing full gear, so maybe that helped. Either way, watch your asses out there. Bacon tastes good until you see it in your rear view mirror...
  10. I kinda have to. Taxing someone just for the possessions they have or for their perceived or projected wealth isn't a viable system. I'll give you an example. My solution would be to create larger tax brackets, since there is a rising percentage of the population making more than the 372,950 per year, especially married couples filing jointly. The tax rate on these should be at least 40% for a start, if not higher. Very vague. Definition of small business from mid- and large business isn't easy, as each businesses revenue stream (arguably the first indicator of success or failure) can vary wildly between business types. However, to implement your solution, lines have to be drawn. One of my favorite lines from Crimson Tide, "War is a continuation of politics by other means." You take away the war, the politics still remain and they aren't going anywhere. One of the hardest things in chess is planning and executing the endgame. Agreed as well. Which alternative fuels would you consider research funding? You should thumb through the congressional record sometime. I was bored at work and did, it's quite the read. When local goverment stops wasting my tax money, I'll have no problem voting for a raise in my property taxes. Can't really argue with this.
  11. Watch your asses around the Easton - 670 block of 270. Saw a sheriff, OHP in car on right median (right where the Easton exit ramp begins to come back to 270, before 670) and another OHP in car on middle median, all facing southbound. Looks like the tax collectors are out in force today. All sightings at 11AM Friday morning.
  12. I'm on it, can't wait!

  13. Oh and thanks to whoever posted neg rep and didn't have the balls to sign it.
  14. No salt needed, you are as much a part of this country as I am. Discourse like this is a healthy thing. A good statement. What would you define as rich, and what would you consider raising the taxes to? Just to help you out, the largest tax bracket currently instated is 35% for those making above $372,950. Same question. I'm extrapolating from this that you would transfer troops from Iraq to Afghanistan. Again, agreed. If I'm understanding you correctly and you want to remove all troops from Iraq, what would you do about the lack of infrastructure in the country? Possibility of being cut off from oil exports if the government is toppled and a anti-American regime is installed? Fair enough. Because it gets the senators in the news. See this for further explanation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm1Jyusyoqk Bingo. How so? That's kind of a broad statement.
  15. Agreed, the way it's worded currently it's incredibly dumb. Last I checked, it hasn't passed yet. I don't mean to single you out, but this is the thing I really don't get with the conservatives in this country, everyone loves to stir the pot but no one holding the spoon wants to offer any workable solutions other than "whatever the other guy said is socialism and shite!", or "let's just let the market work itself out, it worked for the last 8 years..."
  16. Can you name something that Obama has done that's blatantly unconstitutional? Granted, I'm not happy that he's flip-flopped on a lot of positions he made during the election, but this is really getting out of hand.
  17. Well, bye... Please stay out of politics. Leave the foreign policy to the grownups. Just because you live in closer proximity to 2 foreign countries than most Americans doesn't mean you have a sustainable foreign policy strategy. Go hunt moose with Ted Stevens, I hear he's not doing much of anything about now.
  18. Just looked, and I think it does too. Battery life on the new Nano's are 24 hours audio, I just don't need all the new stuff they put in them like accelerometers and the like. If I could get a 24 hour battery on something that's got more than 2GB on it, that would be absolutely killer.
  19. My only catch other than the title is it must have a dock connector, iPod Shuffle's won't work. I don't care a lot if the screen is scratched, I do care a lot about long battery life. This is going to sit in my jacket all the time. As far as price goes, please bear in mind that a new 8GB Nano sells for $150. Some of the craigslist pricing is just ridiculous when taken in that context.
  20. I'll be there at 9 tomorrow. Moose, you need anything down there that I can fit in a backpack?
  21. but she said it was a good size when she made it...
  22. continued:

    More complicated, but better:

Scorpion Alarm (i500, i600, i900) or equivalent. These alarms have three dimensional movement sensors and optionally perimeter alarms, plus remote notification to a pager-like device. The instant someone starts to screw with the bike, your pager goes off. Expect to pay $250 (used) to $500 (new, top-of-the-line) for this kind of solution with remote notification.

  23. No security system, just a homegrown light kit. Here's a list from a guy I know on another forum:

    1. Xena Disk Alarm Lock (or knockoff). This rotor lock has a motion sensor and alarm in it. Normally moving the cover will set it off. $20 - $80 depending on brand, source.

    2. Guardian Alarm for Dowco covers. This particularly loud & annoying alarm sits in a pocket within the covers and gets clipped to anything on the bike that would tug out a safety pin on the alarm when the cover is lifted (alarm will continue to go off until they get the pin back in, which is always a PIA and takes at least a good minute if you know what you're doing -- 4 to 5 minutes if you don't). $18 - $30 depending on source.
