  1. You could argue the pros and cons of each car all day long but it's pointless because both are outstanding cars and you really can't go wrong with either. Just going to boil down to personal preference in the end. It's saying something that the only real con anyone could come up with is that it's not "XXXXX" and nothing generally horrible about the car at all. andy
  2. Perfect reason both are soo successful. Everyone is going to have different perspectives on this. To me the A4 is positioned much better against the 4 door 3 series competition where the AWD and value of the A4 are a major plus in a sedan. For me, The coupe should be RWD with more performance focus which is where the 335 shines.
  3. The kid I'm talking about works at Byers. Graduated HS with him and I've known him for some time. I think he's still doing side work but I could be wrong. With the upgraded tensioners 90K should be no problem.
  4. I have to start with pointing out that I'm an Audi person at heart. I love my A4 to death and stand by the fact that it's been one of the best cars I've ever owned. That said the major issue with the A5 is...it's not a 335 Same problem with the S5...it's not an M3 I think the A5 / S5 is a great car however I honeslty feel BMW makes a better car in this sector. The Pro is that it's AWD for the few times a year that's an advantage in a sports / GT coupe.
  5. I'll send you his info in the morning. My car was actually done prior to me getting it so it must have been done at <60K. When we tore mine apart to do it at 90K it was apparent that it had already been done once we got things torn open but I went ahead to make sure it had the upgraded tensioner in there. Andy
  6. 90K car's over 170K now so it's not far off again.
  7. Are you doing your own T-belt change? If not shoot me PM and I'll give you my contact that will save you some $$$ when you get around to doing it. He did my car the first time and I'm getting ready to have him do it again as it's nearly due for another one.
  8. Hit a wall at the track and the car's designe to take the brunt of the impact. Hit a light pole dead center and it's not as pretty as we've seen more than once now. Sad. R.I.P.
  9. Agreed. Youl'll be a step ahead and likely have exceptional car control but what the organizers are looking for here is more stuff like awareness of flags, surroundings and passing rules.
  10. Were you dropped by your insurance carrier mid term? If you presented a valid, up to date insurance card at the time of being pulled over and hadn't been notified by your carrier you were dropped then you may be able to present that in court to justify your position. Sounds like bad timing if that was really the case.
  11. Click on the event and it takes you to the registration. $350 for that weekend which is on-par with any other weekend group esp for a world class facility like Mid Ohio
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong but he said it's the owner of MHP. I believe this is what's done to the car....or was. There's a new dyno chart in Brian's thread from the other day where the car is making even more power now: http://www.modernhorsepower.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=MC63MHPSTAGE1V3
  13. Sometime last year. I believe all of the major carriers, esp those who are factory fills have reformulated. As I recall the push here started from the EPA in order to keep cats as efficient as possible. My impression is specialty and race oils (Redline, Amsoil, Royal purple, Elf, etc) did not conform to these new standards. Also, to be completely clear. I don't feel Mobil1 is a bad oil by any means and is still above and beyond for a daily driver. I'm just very particular about putting the best lubricants possible in my cars since I use them as an enthusiast and not as basic transportation.
  14. We've been passively looking for quite some time too. There's just not any good ones up here in the Midwest. I drove down to ATL. 2 weeks ago and looked at 5 in the area and this one was far and above the best. The Renntech and fact that it's got 2 years worth of extended warranty that came with the car was enough to convince me to pay a touch more than the others which were great deals. If you want info on the other cars I looked at 2 of them are still on the market and I can give you very detailed reports on them. I'll sell you that grill cheap too if you want it. I've got the origional purchase order for it and you'd think the thing was made out of gold for what the previous owner gave for it. Andy
  15. Because of their reformulation to be more emissions friendly. They reduced the levels of ZDDP (Zinc DialkylDithioPhosphate) in their oils due to concerns over causing issues with catalytic converters, however those ZPPD are the anti-wear additives that made it such a great product to begin with. I've since gone to Redline or Amsoil.
  16. Already figured that out. They have a Dyno mode that you can put the car in which will completely get rid of the traction control and has a few cool diagnostic features through the NAV unit that you can monitor. I think it's left, right, left, right, A, B, A, B, Shift, start or something like that. However it seems like most of the guys run their quickest times with the traction control left on according to the MB forums.
  17. Thanks gents. Suprised nobody has mentioned the chrome wheels yet. I didn't care for them at first but they're really not THAT bad in person. With the chrome grill, trim, badges, etc on the car they kinda fit so I suppose we'll see. The old guy I got the car from was a hoot and loved this car but we differ in taste on a few items. He had AMG seat belt pads on the car which had to come off, that grill had to go, it's got Ferrari horn's on it which aren't bad and I don't have the stock ones so they stay. The wheels are soo perfect and nicely done it'll be a shame to re-do them but that's still a possibility down the road. It'll likely have aftermarket wheels on it next year anyhow. Andy
  18. She wanted a Mercedes. I'm not crazy about them but I agreed as long as I got to pick the model. E55 AMG Renntech Stage I (514hp / 566 lb/ft.) http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/009.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/010.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/017.jpg Biggie Smalls approves http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/024.jpg Day 2: Dropped it and put the Stock grill back on (don't care for the CL style grill) http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/040.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/039.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/041.jpg It's fairly well kept so there's not a TON I need to do detail wise to clean it up but some work to do none the less in the coming days. Got some badges to get rid of too. The Previous owner put a "Limited" badge on the back and changed the side badges that will have to go 'cause I"m not big on them in the first place. It's a rather different driving experience for me but really what we were after. Fits 4 with ease, comfy and quiet going down the road, Very disconnected and numb from a drivers perspective yet goes like stink when you want it to. Andy
  19. I've actually heard great things about the Edge oil. From what I understand it's got alot of the same technology that was put into the TWS motorsport oil that Castrol developed in conjunction with BMW for the rod bearing issues on M3's. The TWS 10w-60 is outstanding stuff but clearly not the right weight for most cars. Andy
  20. Actually part of the reason I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead with the change is I wanted to get away from Mobil1.
