Bump. I went to the good old quarter car wash yesterday to blow the big chunks off the car then home to wash the Audi in the driveway with only two buckets of warm water and winter wash solution. 20 min. later she was squeaky clean again. Andy

looped like 4 times for me before it proceeded any further. Great advertising. The driver either needs to learn how to drive Road Atlanta correctly, or drift better because he did neither well.

it's good to see dogs actually enjoying the snow. Biggie Smalls = Not soo amused in the snow http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/Picture466.jpg

for a street car I suppose.

It's funny that in all of the articles nobody points out that it has true center lock wheels with a single nut instead of conventional lug nuts. Granted Porsche did that with the Carrera GT but I think it's even an option on a regular 997 starting for 2010.

Same goes for the Audi. I plow my own way everywhere I go. But alas I got a little too confident yesterday and tried to drive down a lane that not only hadn't been touched by plows..but the lane next to it had been plowed into the lane I was trying to navigate. Really thought I could make it the short distance I was trying to go but managed to completely highside my car on snow. Took 4 people pushing and some digging to get it out. Once outside the car I realized I was trying to go through about 8+ inches of snow...in a car that scrapes over speed bumps when the snow tires are mounted. None the less...I'll put another STRONG vote for snow tires. They're amazing. The few times in 5 years I actually got stuck in my car it was my own damn fault, like yesterday, for not judging a situation correctly. Andy

Despite the fact that my musical preferences have changed quite a bit, it still gets no better than some Notorious BIG. Heck, I named my dog Biggie Smalls.

Good catch. Thanks for the link.

OK, maybe I'm wrong on the RS4 bumper...sorry. Not my car at Assets...thank goodness. Those chrome wheels are hideous, and it's got some nightmare of an issue with the ECU.

It's dropped, dark grey wheels, RS4 bumper, and a really good sounding exhaust.

Biggest Gimiky crap ever. Hate the tip function...don't use it. The whole automatic tranny is a love / hate thing for me. I have to continue to realize that I purchased that car as a driver and a driver only. The TIP kills the driving experience for me but it's a requirement for me in a vehicle that I own as transportation and not for enjoyment.
-
I see that car around everywhere too. That's all I have to add to this thread.

My buddy has an '05 2.0T A4 with a TIP (stupid ass name for their auto) tranny and I don't remember any sort of vibrations out of the ordinary at idle. My old TIP 1.8T car has a little of vibration while in gear at idle but it's got 170K miles on it and a worn front motor mount.

Rob, Have you thought about a wrap for the car instead of paint? From an up-keep standpoint flat paints are a nightmare to maintain on anything other than a show car that never sees any use. From what I understand you can't wax them so the paint is always unprotected, you can't polish them to fix scratches / swirls (from leaning over fenders to work on something), you're basically stuck with all wear and tear showing and without any means to protect it from the environments as well. The wraps are a much better solution for a car that's actually going to see use. Andy

How can you basically steal an ad. from Ebay and still f'up the title as a dead give away. Listed as a 993...but it's an '86. idiots

+1 I think the F1 coverage is great. David Hobbs holds nothing back and tells it like it is and is hilarious to listen to at times.

As an update I havn't lost an F'ing pound yet. Thankfully it's not for lack of effort. I got into the gym and realized just how much mass I've lost over the last couple of months. started to enjoy lifting again and have been focused on putting on the lean mass before trying to cut. My measurements have changed...but not the weight. Still 195 on the scales....

Only car I ever sold and lived to regret selling was my truck (S-10 with small block) when I went to college. It was useless as a driver and someone offered me too much money for it. I sold a couple of college cars that I was not attached to. Havn't sold any other cars after college...and never intend to get rid of any of them. I need to find more places to put them though. Best part is I think my wife is more attached than me and wouldn't let me sell them even if I wanted to. I sold my bike because I thought I was Valentino Rossi and hurt myself on the damn thing. It lost alot of luster after that.

I think John put it best...it's all about growing through various experiences. I had a daily driver that ran 11's in the mid 90's when I was in HS. It was pretty quick for the day but alas the racing scene got old, my license got suspended and I got sick of paying for nonstandard insurance. I went off to college and realized it was useless for everything but going fast and got rid of it. (still miss that darn truck though) I really appreciate a car that does everything well including look good. I've found track days at road courses to be an outstanding means to an end for my "Need for Speed" and thankfully get enough tracks days that I rarely drive like a idiot on the street anymore. As a matter of fact I've turned into "that guy" that would rather leave his nice car in the garage for the daily commute rather than drive it. No point in driving my great handling car to sit in rush hour traffic going 20 the whole way home. I used to be about driving what I had anywhere and everywhere. Now if there's even a chance of rain I won't take them out of the garage and I detail them as much as I drive them. I'm such an old man. My only saving grace is I use them how they were intended when I drive the crap out of them at the track! Andy

Tyler: Really sorry to hear about this. Loosing that father-son bond is never easy. Keep your chin up and remember him every day in not only your thoughts but actions too. Andy

I like the way you think. Cat Bypass pipes w/ x-pipe are my next project for the winter.
-
Thanks Ryan. I should have come up with that on my own but was drawing a blank on what I could use.
-
So we're back to why I started this thread What's the best way to do that...materials, etc.

I should really hook up an OBD II reader while we're at the track to check for sure. Car just feels like it goes soft after a few laps and I'm thinking it's sucking in hot air after everything gets heat soaked. The cats sit right below the air box and I'm guessing after a few hard laps there's quite a bit of heat generated off of them that's flowing up around that air box area right where it's not sealed too well.

I thought about going back to the stock box which does already utilize the stock snorkle. The performance increase on the K&N supposedly all comes from the tube design after the filter promoting better velocity on the incoming air. It's easier to do what I'm going after and seal the filter section to the deck than to re-use the stock box with the K&N tube. Plus I get a second source of pressurized cold air if I can make this work how I want it to.
