I've always been told ECE is the best rating. I wouldn't hesitate to wear one. The only reason I'm particular about snell is drag racing. And good idea.. Slap a DOT sticker on it and call it a day... Roadside cop isn't going to know the difference if you leave the state and end up somewhere that it's required.. Doubt they'd even check since all helmets sold here have DOT

Attackpainter... Search his name on the forum and PM him... Who is the painter? Not sure how that would break forum rules... If all he does is custom work, I'm sure he'll know how to fix custom paint

Custom paint can be matched, but not sure if it's something just anybody can do... My old vmax had a candy blue marble finish and attackpainter managed to match it when I cracked my fender.. Paint was like 13yrs old at that point and done by somebody else... So it is possible, just not sure I'd trust just anyone... I'd call the dealership and try to find out who their painter is and go from there... As far as calling insurance, I'd wait and see what they say.. If they offer to fix it and have a reputable painter, I'd let them handle it before going to the insurance company and opening a claim... Not sure on the legal liability part, sorry.

I paid 135 and it's on order... Guess I'm that guy. Worth it for me. This desert sun is bright as shit, and I don't like carrying around 2 visors or sunglasses that fog up (my glasses steam up inside my shoei because it's sealed so tight)... Internal sunvisor is a no go because no snell rating means no drag strip fun... So basically, sunglasses that fog up, or a transitions shield... Easy call for me, $135 ain't putting me in a cardboard box under a bridge

Reasonable suspicion that you're breaking a law. In the case of your visor being up, there's more than suspicion; the cop can see you breaking the law. Seems cut and dry to me. Stupid law? Absolutely. But it's no different than driving around with no front license plate, it's still a law that's being broken.

I must be one of the select few around here who rides without ear plugs.. Only time I have plugs is my headphones for music, and even that isn't often... Too much hassle, and then have one fall out half way or get messed up etc and have to pull over... I just throw my helmet on and go, and I can still hear just fine

My shoei was so tight that I was questioning if it would even work out... My rf1100 fit great, so I knew the rf1200 would too at some point... Few days of riding and it feels like it was made specifically for my head.. They break in a lotAnd yes - some people just can't wear certain helmets... My gf tried on small shoei and it was loose as shit... Tried on xs and it gave her a headache for an hour because it was so tight in the forehead... So she's wearing a scorpion currently

Best to try them on at a store... I love my shoei rf1200.. World's above my bell rs1...and I've got a transitions shield on order for it... Highly recommend trying one on Shoei qwest or the gt air (forget which) one of them has the internal visor.. Equally comfortable, but not snell rated due to internal visor
