I have a 95, my cable was extremely hard to pull.I replaced it, $15-20.I took it off and lubed cable ,that improved it slightly. So I just bought a new one. No problems since.It probably the original cable.

I have Joe Rocket Nitrogen gloves, keeps my hands warm on a 40 min ride to at night. I've worn them in temps below 32 degrees,I could feel the cold then but not bad.
