It's a connecting rod issue. From an outside supplier I believe. I'm happy to see they're just replacing whole motors. No way in hell I'm paying $21k for a bike that has a hand rebuild motor from a dealership. I think it's good that Aprilia is stepping up to the plate and making sure this issue is fixed. It's definitely a big one.

Supposedly it will fit. But that's squeezing a lot of tire on a 5.5 in wheel.

Yeah, pretty sure spring needs to get here. I just went out and started the bike. Haven't for a long while. I forgot how loud this thing is and I love that I can feel the vibrations from the motor on the cement floor of the garage. Makes me feel all warm inside. Cameraphone was all I had. Blow me if you don't like the quality.

It is seven years old now. There was a bike mag somewhere that did a test on the 2003 Daytona 650, 2003 Kawi ZX-6RR, 2003 CBR600RR, 2003 GSX-R 600, and the 2003 Yamaha R6. And I do remember that due to the gearing and larger motor it was the fastest bike in the class in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile testing. They said that even though the others were race-ready they'd still pick the Daytona because it was more livable on the street while still being a fast ride. I was looking around for one everywhere before I bought the Mille. They're hard as hell to find.

Cool. The daytona 650 is still a nice bike. The gearing and torquey motor means it will outrun all of the Japanese competitors of it's era. Quite a quick bike.
