  1. Man, what a time. You feel like it had to come eventually, but also kind of thought it never would. If that makes sense. I haven't been active in a long time (since joining the AF and moving away), but this place has always been at the very top of my bookmarks and I always make sure to pop in from time to time.

I actually think (barring someone else taking over the whole kit and caboodle...I could see a subscription type of deal or Kickstarter by all the old-timers being viable honestly) that discord is the best alternative. The FB group is nice, but a lot of people have a strong aversion to that platform. Allows separate rooms (passing lane, parking lot, etc) and is more "private" than FB. I just hate to see the whole archive of everything that's happened here go away. I get it, but it's a bummer.

  2. Great name for a band right there: Venusian Fart Aliens

I'm no scientist....but if the surface of Venus is over 800*F and the swirling vapor cloud atmosphere is highly acidic, it's reasonable to assume that some pretty interesting molecular compounds can be created.

I've been saying since the Pope came out in the '90s with a Catholic church-backed stance that extra-terrestrial belief goes in line with a Biblical view of the Universe - that life can be on every planet/moon where the ingredients to support it exist. Whether that life is INTELLIGENT is another story. Amoeba living on Europa doesn't mean we can stop by in a spaceship - or shoot radio signals there and expect a response - to learn advanced knowledge from them.

This is just prepping the public to accept REAL aliens. Heck there just so happens to be a European probe flying by Venus within the next week or so...the timing is too perfect. *Puts tinfoil hat away*

  3. I used to have a 19. I might be partial because it was my first gun, but I LOVED how it felt in the hand. And I thought I liked shooting it. That was until I got my second gun, a S&W M&P Shield 9mm. Even smaller and shorter barrel than the 19. I had much tighter groupings with the S&W. Make take a look at a similar gun from a manufacturer you know you shoot well? That's my thought process behind wanting the M&P 2.0 Compact.
  4. Super excited Uncle Sam sees it fit to make me fly through Denver and Atlanta this weekend. For a class that's already been rescheduled once. Not sure why it can't happen again, but I'm not happy about it.
  5. Only personal experience was my aunt/godmother. Your last comment really resonates with me. She beat breast cancer once, but it kept coming back in various forms. I remember being so internally frustrated (I've actually never told anyone this) because she made NO effort to change her lifestyle, chain smoked, and ate like crap until the end. I don't resent her, but at the time I just wanted her to get better you know? I do worry about my wife because her mom had breast cancer when my wife was in high school.

Anyway, best wishes to you and your wife. Stay strong!

  6. No US casualties, no further escalation. Or so I'd imagine.

Edit: Also reading reports that the Pentagon is saying Iran missed on purpose. I haven't seen an official statement, so don't take it as fact. If that's true, Iran knew they had to save face, but they knew if they really did kill American troops then Trump would respond disproportionately. They know they're outmatched and while we would take huge losses, they would lose control of their country.

  7. Hey all, my sister-in-law is very interested in getting her concealed carry. All of the human trafficking in town has her freaked. I'm obviously not there any more, but the place I did it back in 2012 is no longer around. But it was very in-depth and had a lot of range time. I'd prefer to refer her to something like that, rather than a quick easy class. She doesn't have a lot of experience with firearms. Thanks for the help!
  8. S10 line is great and meets your criteria. Can still use all the Google stuff at work, and has a headphone jack+microSD slot. Look at the S10e. It's the cheaper version of the S10. Only has the regular camera+wide angle camera, compared to the S10's zoom+standard+wide. But it's got a flat screen if you like that from your S7 Active, and is a bit cheaper than the normal S10 as well. I had one for a bit and really liked it, but got a killer trade-in deal for the Note 10+ and went with that instead. Only issue with the Note 10+ for your needs is the lack of the headphone jack, but it's a BEAST otherwise. 12 Gb of RAM and you can run Samsung Dex (plus Linux on Dex is coming) with ease.
  9. Hey all, I'm coming into town for probably the last time before I move to Colorado. Want to try to get to a game with my wife so I'm looking for two tickets. Not looking to break the bank, but I can do $200 or so. Let me know what you've got!
  10. Mental illness is a crazy thing. I think anyone willing to take their own life is clearly not in the right frame of mind

This. My best friend committed suicide post high school and it really got to me. I didn't really blame him in this particular case, but I had felt that way when hearing about suicide in the media. It wasn't until I dealt with a period of depression/anxiety and saw what it did to my mind, that I really understood that when you're in that state, you're not yourself.

  11. Thanks guys! I've never had a blue vehicle before, and wasn't too sure about it, but once I saw it in person I loved it. Plus it was the only one they had that had a bed liner haha. I've already been thinking about the lower valance. I think the Colorado guys call it the air dam. Seems like it should only take like 20 minutes to take off. Definitely considering it, but really just enjoying the truck right now!
