  1. Like you, I took about 1/4 to 1/3 of the cash reserves and bought into VGT. Still holding some in the event of another drop. Wanted more exposure to financials like Visa, MC, JPM. Didn't call the bottom but still up from purchase. I gotta believe, tho, that it's entirely possible and maybe likely that the "other shoe" will drop between now and Sept/Oct time frame. As for a 3-5 year horizon, things will continue to go up....until the next pandemic/zombie apocalypse/nuclear Armageddon.
  2. There's a few guys here in Cinti that are into collecting/restoring vintage metric/euro bikes. From their stories, unless you can find a screaming deal on a bike that's in pretty decent shape and mostly complete, prices on OEM parts or cost to refurbish said parts--not including your labor--are gonna limit your profit to a negative $$$. Everyone I know that is good at restorations is doing it for the enjoyment and satisfaction and maybe to scratch an itch from their early riding years, not as a profitable hobby.

Doesn't it stand for "Dual Clutch Transmission"?

Maybe, but lots of good reports about just how good the DCT tranny is on this bike. Say what you will about shifting vs not, but the technology is pretty good (see any writeups about Porsche PDK) and getting better quickly.
  5. This is a total guess, but I assume that since you have floorboards, your shifter is a heel-toe lever. If you raised the front (toe) of the lever far enough to limit travel of the heel portion, you won't be able to rock the shifter far enough to select the shift pawls for higher gears. Try putting it in an intermediate position.
  6. Sorry. Forgot to mark sold. Lock it!

  8. Given the heightened state of insanity in the world right now, I recognize this ain't the most auspicious time to try and sell anything...other than a snake oil cure for the COVID-19 virus. Be that as it may, gonna post this up here for any one looking to add a really nice bike to their stable for the summer. 2013 Kawasaki ZX1000G Ninja, a few clicks over 9600 miles. I'm ashamed to say I bought this used 2 years ago with 8700 miles and have only put about 900 miles on it...not because it isn't a nice bike and fun to ride, but mostly because I have 2 other bikes (also fun to ride) and frankly, this 70 yo guy doesn't REALLY need a liter bike. Plus, I hate the pipes!!!😢 Details: Decent rubber (Michelin Pilot Power 3, DOT code 1915 F and 3514 R), tail tidy with LED tail light, frame sliders, swingarm spools, battery tender lead, tank protector, Sargent seat (both), V&H shorty exhaust (don't have the OEM cans), "knock-off" adjustable levers. Comes with Givi bags (mounting frame not currently installed) and VStream windscreen for comfy touring. Includes stock seat as well. In the spirit of full disclosure and not wanting to fuck an OR member in the ass, it appears the bike has either been tipped over or had a very slow speed fall. There is slight cuffing on the bottom of the clutch cover, a scratch/scuff on the right-side fairing that has been retouched, and the right hard bag has been re-skinned with a generic Givi panel vs the OEM Kawasaki panel. Located in SW Ohio. Could possibly deliver within reasonable distance. Price is firm.
  9. Somehow, I feel cheated that I'll never get the chance to fuck an OR member in the ass.... 🤔 Thx for the reply. Personally, I prefer the soft bags myself, which is why I've never mounted the rack. Plus, it looks like a real PIA--to stick with the theme--to install.
  10. Thx. Prolly you. I like your upgrade!!!
  11. I'm pretty sure I've seen a member here that has a Kawasaki green Ninja 1000, prolly 2013-2015 gen. Need to ask he/she would be interested in a set of the color-matched Givi hard bags with the frame rack, as well as a VStream touring windscreen. I'd make a screaming deal with all the muss and fuss that COVID-19 has created. Thx!
  12. Actually, I recently read a research article (sorry, can't find the reference right now) that stated there are already 3 variants of COVID. They identified the strains as A, B, and C, with the strains labelled in chronological order as they mutated. Strangely, the researchers also said that the strain most prevalent from the Wuhan outbreak was the "B" strain, which possibly indicates that it originated somewhere else. They stated they weren't able to pinpoint the center of the origin, tho. My guess is that, as with the common seasonal flu virus that rapidly mutates and makes it difficult to produce a 100% effective vaccine for whatever seasonal variant will become prevalent, COVID will continue to mutate and remain as much a fact of life as the flu. Hopefully, mutation will also create a less lethal strain, or possibly a less transmissible strain. To your point about a vaccine "fixing" the problem--in addition to the likelihood of the virus continuing to mutate--I have read that researchers have not definitively established that immunity will be conferred on folks who show they have antibodies to COVID in their blood.....which leads me to ask WHY we're putting so much effort into creating a vaccine at this juncture if the effort could be all for naught. Still so much unknown about this crisis.
  13. Isn't that sort'a like a reverse porch pirate?
  14. Owww! Taunting me with high school English knowledge. I was a Chem/Physics major, so.... 😖
  15. That whole string kind'a reminded me of the quote from Donald Rumsfeld on Iraq and WoMDs: Rumsfeld stated:
  16. Well, there is this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/exclusive-secret-military-task-force-prepares-to-secure-the-u-s-capital/ar-BB12IZtv?ocid=msedgntp
  17. Drywallers....pretty much sys it all. For their next trick, they'll shit in a wall pocket or down one of your heating vents.
  18. Ha! I cough in your general direction. WTF do English teachers know about science anyway? BTW, I haven't been able to disseminate since about 1978. 🤨
  19. I agree. She's one hell of a strong lady! As to your second point, I've heard many of her horror stories about staff incompetence at both the administrative, LPN, RN and MD level. Like I said, the medical field is simply a microcosm of the total work environment. I've done my absolute best at staying out of places that make their business model--necessary or not--off of human misery....well, except for the OhioRiders forum.
  20. People pretty much run the gamut from hero to loser. No reason to think that the population in the medical field is any different than what you run across in the office. My sister is a retired Respiratory Tech. Left about a year ago...basically burned out. She's just a couple years younger than me, so 68 yo. She was telling me she's strongly considering going back to answer the call during this crisis to help out. Not all are of the same mindset. Not sure I would do that if I were in her shoes. There will always those who run toward the trouble...and those who run the other way.
