  1. Maybe... Tim might want to go down there for the weekend as well but not ride. "You probably remember him from Jennings last year"

Are you planning on camping out at the track?

Ya I've met Tim a few times. I've got room for up to 3 bikes in the trailer, we can take my truck, your truck, whatever.

I'm planning on whatever is cheapest. Camping is cool with me, I'll pitch a tent, sleep in the trailer, camp out under the stars. If we need a hotel I can pitch in, I haven't checked to see what the camping situation is at Summit.

  2. If I had rains I would be in for sure regardless.

I will probably be getting there late on thursday night/early friday morning.

Wanna trailer down together? I have to work Thursday till 4 or 5, but I'll be going right through Youngstown to get there. I could be all loaded up and leave straight from work, Google says it would take me an hour and 20 to get to Columbiana from my work

  3. It'll pretty hard to diagnose a noise over the forum without hearing it. But if you're gonna try, give us more info.

You already mentioned it doesn't matter if you open the throttle fast or slow.

Does it happen at a certain RPM range? Is it only above/below a certain RPM range?

Does it happen in all the gears, or only in certain gears? Noise still there in neutral?

Is it truly a "vacuum leak" type of whistle, or like others mentioned more of a gear sound coming from the engine?

Seeing how dirty that filter was, how is the oil? The 675 likes to be FULL, and the dipsticks even changed in 2009 to move the min/max marks up. On a 2007 you're safe running it about a 1/4" above the max mark, in fact I'd recommend it.

The valvetrain on these bikes can make a lot of noise, especially if your cam chain is a little worn (put a manual tensioner on there, the 2006-2008 spring-loaded ones suck) or the valve clearances are out.

Let me know what's up. If you're taking it to Pauly for 24k service I'm sure he'll check the valves and might be able to get you squared away. And my offer still stands if you want me to take a look at it. I've worked on more than my fair share of 675's and know a lot of the common issues with them.

  4. I've seen a few people break into 1:09's there, old man Tom Hughey on his carbed 99 R6 making all of 95hp is one of them. He usually likes to embarrass guys on liter bikes like that though. Don't know that I've ever actually witnessed someone run faster than that. I know there was one guy who did a 1:06 or something ridiculous like that, and then said he'd never come back to the track, haha. That was way before my time though.

  5. That's because drug tests are counter productive. Why would I work for someone knowing I have to be careful how I conduct myself OFF SITE and at my own house? They want you to work 50-60+ hours a week, swing shift, doubles and holidays. Then, God forbid you tie one on during the 12 hours a week of free time you still have left.

    Fuck that.

I will say that the pay rate for Lincoln employees is pretty decent, but you'll work your ass off. If Mike didn't have twelve children, he'd have retired by now.

I know plenty people who "tie one on" and still work at Lincoln. If you can hold back long enough to pass a test, you're in. And you're gonna get tested right around your 1 year and 2 year anniversary. After that, do what you want. Just know if you hurt yourself at work you'll probably be tested again. So either don't get hurt, or don't go to the nurse when you smash your finger or whatever.

  6. Or is it just easier for PIRC to have N2 contract all the bike track days, deal with WERA for 2 race weekends, and exclude all other MC orgs as superfluous?

All fees being equal, dealing with two customers is easier than dealing with three.

Moto Series/Fastraxx has been dealing with beaver/pirc for a long time. Pretty sure before nesba/N2. I don't think they cut them off. Draw your own conclusions though.

  7. I believe that just the north was like $185 through them so $30 extra for full isn't bad IMO.

Ya, not much of a bump. I would pay the extra $30.

Todd did mention PIRC wanted MORE than double to rent the full track. But no one said he had to rent the full track either. You can rent just the North, or just South.

I agree with the points redkow made. I don't envy the position Todd is in, but I unfortunately don't see Moto Series lasting if the only option is Nelson Ledges. There's a lot of people who already refuse to go to Nelson b/c of the conditions. They will probably never even come back to check it out if improvements are made. And as much as I love Moto Series and NL, I can't spend my entire summer racing one track.

  8. The Putnam rounds were money loss events...

Which is sad, because as far as grids go they were some of the largest all year. I don't know how attendance was for the track day, but I thought grids were better than any of the other race weekends at Nelson or PIRC?

  9. I'm really disappointed. I don't know a single rider/racer that thinks it's a good idea. It's bad for Moto Series. I guarantee attendance drops off as racers and track day guys venture to other orgs when they get bored with Nelsons.

Not gonna lie, I've already been looking at the WERA schedule and seeing what races I can possibly attend. I'll probably do the PIRC and maybe Mid-O stuff with them. Maybe the whole North Central Region season, or maybe just a bunch of track days, who knows?
