Any old guy bike will do. Hell, on my way down to the ride Sunday I followed behind an older gentlemen on a Harley bagger that was holding an admirable pace.  I stayed behind him for about 5 mileys or so just to watch.  We both stopped to gas up in Coshocton & complimented him on being a 1%er so to speak.  He said that the Ohlins helped but none the less.  Don't think I'll go the ADV route myself as I've got my eye on something European that looks very comfortable but will be more in line with the CBR than the Ninja in the Twisties department.  (That's after I get the new phone, by the way.)

Hey! I ain't old... Or a gentleman! Glad I didn't hold you up too bad. My original Dunlop's have about 15,000 miles on them and a past worn out. I did 380 miles in 7 hours and never got on a 4 lane. Guess a 54MpH average including 2 gas stops and a sit down lunch at Taco Bell isn't too bad for an old gentleman on a bagger?

  2. depends where you go. some of the trails are very thin, filled in by vegetation for the spring season, then widen back up in the fall. I would say most trails fit a sport quad comfortably.

Last time we were there we got stuck behind slow moving side by sides we decided it wasnt worth the expense of going there anymore. WNF is missing out on so many trail pass purchases without bike friendly single track. Absolutely no reason why dirt bike guys are forced to ride quad paths.

All the more reason the clubs that put on the enduros and dual sport rides get my money. Doing the Flint Ridge dual sport Sunday... Man I'm ready to ride me some singletrack!

  3. Things have changed since I took my test, has anyone taken the riding test in the last few years?

I thought if you put your foot down you flunked, now I'm hearing three times to fail?

A few modifications to the testing procedure. If you are on a HD you fail if you duck walk more than 80% of the course, but you do get to drink a beer everytime you use your front brake

  4. Do you plan on riding with a passenger? If so heres my input. I had an Aprilia Futura which is about as close as you can get to a Sprint in size and riding position. I loved it for riding solo, but add a passenger and the fun ended. Riding position although aggressve was super comfortable for me alone but add a passenger leaning on me and the added weight to my wrists was too much. And the short wheel base once again was great solo and it would throttle wheelie in 1, 2 and sometimes 3rd gear...AWSOME! Until the ol lady was on back compounding the tendency to wheelie . I ended up getting a FJR1300 and the added 5 inches of wheelbase is just what is needed for passenger comfort, and allows me to accelerate with authority and have my headlights pointing at the road. Also the slightly less aggressive seating position is enjoyable with a passenger.. I have NO ISSUES WITH THE HANDLING. I can rail on this bike

  5. I would avoid 422 at all costs. I have NEVER seen so many local cops and troopers on one road before. Thats why I picked up the pace a bit.... I figured I couldn't possibly pass another cop so soon... LOL boy was I wrong.

  6. I don't begrudge anyone for either attending or wanting to attend. If you are into the people watching and party aspect im sure you'll get your fill. I rode down to Daytona Bike week in 1987 I believe and it was a lot of sitting in traffic and dealing with drunks and a lot of women who thought they looked really hot wearing clothes for women 1/3 their size.

  7. How are we suppose to know if the dead guy riding in the Caddy Wagon deserves respect? Im sorry, but I don't stop. I will wait at intersections for the final car and I wont pass a funeral going the same direction, but no way will I stop if going the opposite direction. ESPECIALLY IF IM ON MY BIKE.

  8. I was offered a bed at Sturgis from a buddy f8r bike week. I turned it down. The thought of 3 days each way on straight flat interstate is a deal breaker for me.If I have to go on the highway I would almost rather be in a car....and I love riding!
