me too!

hahaha!!
This is the second engine I've had in my fz1. They both made tapping noises.
-
I made you a video of mine. Stock exhaust installed, it's as Noisey as a john Deere tractor. I've never heard one that was quiet.
-
Its easy to disassemble, just pull it apart and see if its sloppy. Your not out anything by trying. When chasing something like this I like to start by using the KISS method.
Keep
It
Stupid
Simple
As others have said it runs. It isn't running bad. Try not to jump to worst case scenario right away.
The noise I think I hear in your video, I'm 90% sure is your exup valve. Thats why so many people remove them. They can't stand the noise.

Ahhh we all have our off days !

At 20k? Not questioning your judgment...just seems pretyI soon for that. do hope you are right.
Very common. I chased a rattle on my bike for 3 years, had 26k on it when I got it. Exup valve ended up being the offender. They have some junk bushings in them, and wear out rather quickly.

I'm going to put 5 bucks on it and say your X up valve is worn out and its rattling.
-
if your talking the SV is the weep hole clear?
yes sir! I don't feel like fighting with an sv325 on the cherohala!
-
well, I'm almost ready. Just need to set up the SV to charge my phone and GPS. Did new plugs tonight. I need to get some dielectric grease to seal up my front plug boot. Game on.

What are some good breakfast spots.....1...2....3.... Go!

I did an engine swap on my gen 1 , with an engine that had 7900 miles on it for 688 shipped. My second gear went out on my original engine. I've put 13,000 happy miles on the new engine thus far. I'm guessing it's somthing small and easy to fix.
-
At 20k i think it wouldn't need adjusted but when they need adjusted, they normally tighten up instead of getting lose. Yamaha998 forum is kind of meh. Fz1oa is the one to go for. Ravenrider on fz1oa is who I would talk with. He's rebuilt many of fz1 engines, and knows the bike inside and out.

Those engines aren't common to have CCT issues, but I'm not saying it's not possible. The valve train on them is relatively Noisey. Could you get us a sound clip?

I love the lodge, and the coffee machine in the lobby. Nothing better than sitting on the back patio with a good cup of coffee..
-
I've never listed it during riding season, twice in winter. It's my daily commuter, I'm not pressed to get rid of it, but I'd like to try something new
-
Don't mean to hijack , but I've wanted a good cigar lately. Anyone have any recommendations
-
Dang! If you decide you wanna do that.... Hit me up!

If I had a buyer for the fz1, I would sell it and pick up your strom in a heart beat, but I am missing an important piece if the puzzle...

I've a wheel horse fanatic! I love them! As it has been said, once you use a commercial unit, a consumer grade unit will never seem quite good enough. Theres a lot to be said for a fabricated deck, and high blade speed!
