sorry i seen the bike.....i used to have one and did a valve adjust at 19,000 miles. that was in 02!!!

you need to make sure that cylinder is TDC...if it is and measures that then you need to adjust

yes the bolt is just basically a cap.....and just checking lash no....no need to disengage the tensioner i shoulda made that clear in my first reply

use a screwdriver and turn in the tensioner all the way....then hold it with some vise grips.....thats what i did on my crf450 same principle
