Newton hates bikers. That is, when you get ever into a physics competition with a car, you WILL lose. Maybe you'll lose your deductible. Maybe you'll lose your life. But you WILL lose. Safest riding is as far away from cars as possible. If I'm in a group of cars I'll punch/weave/GTFO out from the middle and get myself set up in an open space. Cars tend to form clumps as slower cars trap faster cars so you'll generally find a nice safe gap between the clumps.

We all like to defend our right of way sometimes, to drive tactically to prevent someone doing something stupid, to get a little close to the back of the guy who just pulle dout so you can make a point about how close they made you get, to keep someone from cutting in line after you've been waiting for 30 minutes etc... That sh!t is all well and good if you drive an SUV, but not on a bike. I tmay be that the driver didn't see you, so you could be defending your ROW with your life. I've had a lady who was to my right (in a dedicated right-turn lane) continue on straight and wind up in the shoulder to my right. When she realized she was on the shoulder she signalled left and looked at me - our head were level. She motioned for me to slow down. I shook my head and stayed my course. She flipped me off then changed lanes anyway, almost pinning me between her Excursion and a dump truck. Locked up the wheels trying to avoid getting sandwiched - nearly got rear-ended for my troubles. at the next light I pulled up next to her. That's a s close as I ever got to pulling someone out of their car. Shook my head knowing that the law protects her more than it protects me, and just rode on.

If I won, I'd put the money away in an account and not tell anyone. I'd set up an daily automatic transfer that would ensure that my checking account always stays at a minimum of about $20k and then forget about it. No new house, no new car, just guaruanteed financial stability for my family for generations to come.

I got here as soon as I could. My super-senses told me that someone was having fun at the expense of statistical reasoning. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go tell little Tommy that there is no Easter Bunny.

If you win, I'll take a check.

The larger prize does not increase any one person's odds of winning. If anything is increases the number of people playing and therefore increases odds of multiple winners, thereby decreasing the prize. Realistically, what difference does it make between 20million and 200million dollars? At 20m you're set for life. Why would a 200 million jackpot prompt someone to play who wouldn't play for a 20 million jackpot? Lotteries are a tax on people who can't do math.

Mythbusters also tested injuries resulting from hands/fingers inside the when the airbag goes off. They showed that if you use a "Vulcan" grip (two fingers and thumb inside the wheel and the other two fingers outside the wheel) the airbag can tear your hands in half (leaving the two inside fingers inside the wheel). As long as the airbag can push you arms away you'll be fine.

Would that be Dave? He likes to rag that Oddessy around the track faster than most folks could drive a Corvette.

That is a classic case of mutual escalation. Tough to tell who started it (did she try to stop the bike from splitting lanes? Or did she change lanes into him) but him kicking her car was the wrong response. Her ramming him with the car was a felonious assault (notice she steering into him - not trying to get away). Him the approaching the car like he did is going to make her want to flee. Her ramming him again was another felonious assault with apparent intent to crush him against another car. The only smart thing the biker did was take the key and walk away waiting for the police. Him: Ticket for lane splitting (IF it is not legal and that is what he did) Him: Criminal Damage for kicking her car Her: Reckless driving for trapping him while he was splitting lanes (if that's what she did) OR illegal lane change ticket Her: Two counts of felonious assault It takes two to tango... Either one of them could have chosen to not escalate.

First ride on a motorbike was about age 8 or 9. First street ride was about 20 years ago. Unlicensed, went a few miles on Yamaha TZR125 bike and nearly got hit several times from going too fast. Gave up on the idea of riding for abut 12 years. Picked it up again about 8 years ago - older, wiser and with a better concept of mortality than when I was a teenager.

They film them all (they said) and they may be putting together a video of highlights. I dunno. I sent an email asking if the videos would ever be made available in any way.

Yeah, Jamie is big into his bike. He's mentioned it a couple times. Their new season premier is Sunday.

That was me! You saw it?? It was unreal to stand up there with them.

Had a dream the other night that I was talking about bikes with some guy I apparently knew, and he asked how I lost my leg. I pulled up my left pants leg the reveal a shiny metal prosthetic leg and explained about the accident. Thing is, I don't have a prosthetic leg and I've not been in a motorbike accident. Still, the dream was real a vivid enough that it's circulating in in my brain even 5 days later. dafuq? Is this a message from above that I need to be more careful on the bike? Or just randomly firing synapses that just happened to come up with something that hits close to home? Still freaked out. (I know a guy who lost his leg in a bike accident. Some lady pulled out of a parking space as he rode by and her bumper crushed his leg against the engine too bad to be fixable. The prosthetic in my dream was the same as his) IN fact I know two folks in the predicament - another is a cop who was hit by another cop while he was fueling his police bike in the city gas station. He returned to active duty with a prosthetic leg. TBH this is my biggest fear on the bike - my leg getting crushed into the side of the bike. I mounted special footpegs for my 8yo son that place his feet above bumper-height in case we get t-boned.

The task was to walk from on table to the next performing simple tasks at each one. - Pick up a plastic cup - Pour a jug of milk into the cup - Pick up a hat - Put the cup of milk and hat onto a tray - Carry the tray to the back of the stage and give it to Adam The welding helmet had a smartphone in place of the filter that was showing a video stream recorded like by another smartphone that was mounted on a boom on the outside of the helmet. The "camera" smartphone was at eye level, facing downward and on a springy boom that extended about 18" forward. It was a freaky experience. Adam asked me what it felt like. I said; "About 12 pints of Guinness." That got a chuckle out of the audience. I had to sign a video release so I'm hoping there is video if this out there somewhere...

My wife got tickets for my son and I to see the mythbusters live stage show. I wound up being called out of the audience to help with an experiment. (Testing my ability to perform a series of simple tasks with a blacked-out welding helmet that had a small screen inside that was hooked up to a camera on the outside of the screen) It was a blast - got to meet Adam and Jamie and shake their hands too. Adam of course asked about my accent. Epic experience. Was anyone from here at the show? It was their only Ohio performance.

This is called the Girlfriend Quiz because if you get them all right then you probably have never had a girlfriend.

Scala teamset pro has a range of about 20-30' so it's best for rider-passenger, not bike-to-bike. It will bluetooth to my droidx for phone calls, but NOT for mp3 music. Music comes by way of a plug-in headphone jack that I have hooked to a cheap sony radio in the clear top of my tank bag, routed through a "Boostaroo" inline amplifier. The headset speakers are then loud enough to play radio through my earplugs just fine.
