Or, chances are you won't get the time to utter your favorite curse word before you get shoulder-barged into the crash barrier. Your reaction time alone (assuming 1 second, which is for a reasonably alert driver) would carry you nearly 200'.
-
Also consider the stopping distances. Good car with good tires on a dry surface = about 175ft stoppign distance from 65mph. What do you think the stopping distance is from 125?

Worry less about avoiding the liability, and concentrate more on avoiding the accident. Don't matter who was right or wrong if you're both dead. Did you see the video? Someone checking their mirror/blind spot is going to see a car that is far behind them - more than enough room for a safe lane change if the car was going at a reasonable speed. In this state you are lucky to get a quick glance. Agreed, that person should recognize that you are travelling quickly - but a reasonable person would not be doing 125 so it would be argued in court that it follows from there that a reasonable person would not expect a car to do double the speed limit on the freeway, and therefore was not acting negligently in failing to recognize the speed. Doesn't surprise me that some folks don't see this as a problem. Some people argue that DUI is not a problem either. Just gotta find your comfort level.

My "how to annoy the highway patrol without even trying" video has netted me $1,600 so far.

Did I just get Rick Rorred?

And then there's people who DON'T pee in the shower and don't lie about it.

The reason the kid turned around is that the car with the camera honked at the wagon driving nearly hitting the boy in the crosswalk. Kid got scared by the honk and tried to run back to the closest sidewalk.

Speeding is one thing. 20 over? meh. I don't care. But doing double the speed limit in traffic is ludicrous. You've heard the phrase that double the speed is four times the pain, right? Well that Maserati hitting somone would have been like getting hit by the tractor unit from a semi at freeway speed. You can get away with that crap in Germany or England where the roads are better and signal/lane discipline is observed... But not here where the potholes can swallow up a wheel and people switch lanes unexpectedly with no signal for no reason. You wanna do double the speed limit? Do it when nobody is around. Saint Peter might even let you in as long as you're alone.

$75 Dashcam + crazy driving video + youtube + adsense = profit

Thread SAVED!!!

+1 Officer was 100% in the right. Mom needs to get out more. Or less.
-
That's me. Douchey McDouchebag. The Maserati did at least 3 laps of the stretch between 131 and 121 just going back and forth like that. There's speeding, and there's well into triple digits...

Considering I just got one for $135 new, and you can still get them on eBya for $200 new, asking $200 each used makes zero sense. $200 for a pair, well that makes sense. Ok, so we'll chalk that up to a miscommunication. Stuff happens. Now what was that about the "I'm selling them" then with the "not actually for sale" then with the "I am selling them" again thing??
-
So you started by offering BOTH gopros for $200 (My emphasis) Then you rescinded that... The you un-rescinded, but changed it to ONE for $200 Well done on being promoted from douchebag to douchecanoe.

I used aircraft coating remover on what was left of the paint on the frame of my Bronco. Some areas took two applications, but it was simple. Dab on thick with paintbrush, wait 30 mins, scrape off. Don't let the stuff touch your skin or you'll feel it start to burn after a few seconds. Be careful if you use a wire brush as it can flick the gelp up onto your arms - same effect.

Wow. Way to be a douche.

Anyone who has done any serious work on a bike/car/truck has gone through that phase, unless they were taught by someone competent from the start. Heck, I even made a cold-air-intake kit for my Taurus about 15 years ago. Took a 3" PVC pipe and used heat to mold it around various components until I get it where I needed it. Then installed a 9" cone air filter under the front bumper. Couple of weeks later I drove through a deep puddle and hydrolocked the engine. Busted a rod clean in half. Lower-mileage junker engine cost me $00 and two days to install. Lesson learned. I never do any *mods* on my daily driver that can affect its reliability. My only mods have been my camera system which is a bolt-on installation. The rest of the drivetrain is 100% stock, only maintenance and repairs have been done. My Bronco has been modded a TON for offroadnig, but over time I have learned what works and what doesn't. Saving time during the engineering phase is a false economy and only well-engineered and well-executed work cna be trusted. I've committed some crimes against engineering in my time, but learned from those mistakes. Did I ever tell you how I got the engine/trans/transfer case out of my friend's Rav4 when she spun the #1 bearing? Worked like a charm. After the engine was replaced she continued to drive this car for about 6 years until it was totalled in a rear-ender. It also helps to have access to the right tools.

He was only just arrested... Hasn't been tried yet. The 4 months was for a prior conviction...

When I get more than one request. it all happened over the course of 25 minutes so I'm sure you dont' want the raw video. I'll take a look and see if I can pull highlights.

Thing is I *was* following, and was told to break off. Still, I understand how staffing levels and other priorities can be. If you have a possible drunk driver but your officers are tied up working active calls that are just as high priority then something has to be let go. Best police response I ever saw was back in the UK when I got home from a friend's house in the wee hours of the morning. Noticed two kids sitting on a wall across the street but I didn't look at them. Got inside my house, turned all my lights off and watched them from the window (stood 6' back for the window so they couldn't see me). They started trying to break into a car, and I called 999 right away. As I was talking to the operator they got the car started and backed it up ready to set off driving. Within one minute of being connected with the emergency operator 6 police cars converged on the scene at high speed. Scared the sh*t outta ME and I wasn't the bad guy. The kids ran off but were caught hiding in nearby gardens. I gave a statement and they were charged. 12 and 14 years old, so they were given an "official police caution" and nothing else (a stern teling off by a cop). I asked how they managed to respond so quickly. There had been a false alarm (burglar) at a local propane depot. 6 cars had eventually shown up at that scene. When they cleared it, they all headed back to the "cop shop" in convoy. When my call came in they were all passing within 1/4 mile of my house.

If you post them there I won't see them. If it a 3rd party thing liek this I say OT is the right place. It's more of a motorcycle-related FYI than a "sale". I'm glad it was posted here - I got one of the woot gopros and I'm loving it. Wouldn't have noticed it in the FS section.

So, welding question here (because I only know how to MIG weld steel)... I don't know the first thing about welding aluminum... The frame he drilled through was cast aluminum, right? Is it possible to weld to cast aluminum? Without making it brittle? Can he get a professional welder to add aluminum to the outside of the frame (where the new hole was drilled too close to the outside, right where the "crack" appears to be) to provide additional support there? This is assuming that is not a crack. If it IS a crack then how would they fix that? Could they cut out the crack itself, widening it enough to weld up the cut, then either re-drill the hole (or better, plug the hole and use a manufactured engine mount kit for the 1k swap)? I'm thinking about how I fix pinholes in my welds - drill out the pinhole and make it big enough to weld up the bigger hole. I did a bunch of welding on the frame of my Bronco where the body mounts punched through the paper-thin rusted metal. I cut out 8" sections of the top of the C-channel and welded new plate in place. Then I had to re-drill the holes for the body mounts. Look at the frame now it's painted you can't tell there was a repair done.

Statistically speaking, they are vastly overrepresented in the Gixxer community. Cliffs: If it quacks like a duck...

Read it more carefully... That was a prior conviction for which he got 4 months served. He is still under probation for that, so he will serve out the balance of that 5 year term as well as whatever term he gets for this new crime.
